I have not seen this bug. I would check to make sure the tablets are on the latest software before even enrolling. To save you some time, you could push out the app removal policy and reset policy from dashboard. I usually just send the remote wipe command right from dashboard. That all depends on if your field support has access to Meraki. Jared

@ZDonaldson I also did this from the network side, but some VPN apps could still tunnel out if it got past the block. Luckily all of our devices are managed my Meraki MDM (Meraki SM), I created a policy on my end that looks for any apps that contain anything to do with VPNs, Proxy, Annomizer, Etc. and then have it alert me on compliance. The user will loose access to must of the functionality until they remove the VPN and see me (or wait until the device checks in and remove the VPN profile making it compliant). I know Meraki MDM (SM) offers PC managment, might be something to think about for the future.

@ZDonaldson If they were company owned devices managed by an MDM you could search for the VPN apps and remove them.

@MikeMandalorian I have never seen that I think it may be an issue that Meraki is pushing our the password profile and it is forcing that reboot. This is how I am enforcing passcodes and I don't seem to run into this issue - I use a policy to see if the user has a passcode set if not, the password configuration profile pops down at check-in and forces them to set a passcode. The user can still remove it after the profile is removed and they are considered 'compliant', but it is just going to harass them at the next check-in.

Hi All, Just curious if anyone here has attended the MacAdmins Conference at Penn State. It is only a four-hour drive from me and it looks very interesting. If you did go previously, was it worth the trip? Jared

@BlakeRichardson You could use the "Do not allow the following apps" restriction to blacklist those specific apps. Also, I recommend you push out the restriction that disallows the following: "Allow removal of system apps (iOS 11.0+)".

@MikeMandalorian While this would be a nice feature, it is not in the MDM framework provided by Apple so Meraki, nor any other MDM provider can implement it. Your best resort would be to submit a ticket with Apple, good luck on that side of things - I don't even bother anymore!

My favorite post on our MDM Profile/Agent thread here was by @Melissa! I was waiting for this feature for months and was excited to finally have it in my toolbox. I am also am a huge fan of the thread here about DEP. Lots of participants, I always laugh when @PhilipDAth tells us Apple folks to move to Android!

I have just found that Meraki cloud hosting backpack just does not function 90% of the time and I have given up on it. Honestly, I have stopped submitting support tickets - I just feel like I am spinning in circles sometimes.

Check under Systems Manager > General > Scroll down to Enrollment Settings and see if there are any tags being added by default.

Clear your current VPP token and complete the following steps: https://documentation.meraki.com/SM/Apps_and_Software/Using_Apple’s_Volume_Purchase_Program_(VPP)_with_Systems_Manager After competing the above, force sync again. I haven’t had any issues with VPP so it has to be an issue with your setup.

Have you verified that the VPP token is set up properly - I recommend redoing the process to confirm? Once the device is added in VPP go to Apps and add it as a managed app and check the option to install with VPP codes.
