If you put a device into a network with a firmware it does not support, it should run the latest version that it can support, which should be listed in Meraki's documentation. For example, an MR34 AP only supports up to firmware 26.8.3, if you put it in a network that is 30.7.1, it will run 26.8.3. Support can always confirm if you have a suspicion of a firmware mismatch, and sometimes it is necessary as the dashboard will tell you what it is configured for, not what the device is running, even for MX sometimes it can give you incorrect information (infrequently, but it is possible).
