I don't think Meraki uses the "beta" term in the traditional sense anymore. It's more like "early access". I compare this to Gmail in the past which was in "perpetual beta" and showed as such on the logo. People complained for years about this so they removed the beta note but still develop it in the same fashion.

@PhilipDAth Agreed on the MS firmware, although I appreciate that beta firmware releases come pretty often for that line which is nice if you have the opportunity to reboot more often. I believe Meraki used to target quarterly stable releases, which obviously isn't really happening anymore. Most people I know using Meraki are on beta firmware now because of this, so it's turned into a sort of "Gmail" type beta (forever a beta).

@ShaneMartin Are you sure about the MS225-24 (non-PoE) being fanless? I'm pretty sure all of the MS225's have a single blower style fan that is quite loud as others have said. They are also essentially not speed variable and run at ~80% speed all the time.

@Mr_IT_Guy I think routing not working is listed as a known issue for 9.27 now. It's been fine for me on MS350's though for both local interfaces and OSPF.

@GeorgeB Thanks for the reply George. I totally understand the complexity from your side, but it's also immensely complex and cumbersome to manage Dashboard accounts for users in an org this large (we have hundreds of employees who need access across 25 sites). I'll reach out to my SE and ask him to get the info to MV engineering.

One of the companies they use is M5 Hosting. They're even listed on the customer page: http://www.m5hosting.com/customers.php If you look at the Dashboard IP ranges as announced in BGP, you'll see most come from M5 (including their new range that is directly allocated to Meraki).

@bholmes12 9.27 seems to be much better at recovering from this issue. While in the past I had to reboot stacks where they were reporting incorrect membership after power outages, on 9.27 this alert has been resolving itself or not happening at all.

Meraki just launched a few new MX products: MX250, MX450 and Z3. See here: https://meraki.cisco.com/products/appliances#mx-new MX250 is rated for 4Gbps of throughput while the MX450 is rated for 6Gbps. The Z3 is rated for 100Mbps and includes Wave 2 AC wireless and a PoE port.

HI @hinewwiner - currently there is no VPN client for Meraki (including the Cisco AnyConnect client). You use the native OS VPN functionality. See here for setup instructions: https://documentation.meraki.com/MX-Z/Client_VPN/Client_VPN_OS_Configuration I agree with @PhilipDAth that you would be better off using the vMX100 to accomplish what you've laid out. I also second his recommendation of purchasing standalone MR devices for each office where you want wireless. I don't think you'll need an MR52/3 level device unless you are going for significant density and throughput. We typically deploy the MR33 or MR42 in most cases.

As I'm sure many of you have seen by now, Meraki is getting ready to use a new block of IP's for Dashboard communications. This is being announced via Dashboard banner notifications and emails to network admins for affected networks. Is anyone else receiving the email notifications multiple times for networks that cannot have an issue (no outbound firewall rules, no web filtering, etc.)? I've received multiple notifications across at least two separate Dashboard orgs for MR networks. As a followup from my original post mentioning 9.27 - I now have three buildings running 9.27 and it's been fantastic. Easily the best MS firmware I've used so far. Stacks are actually behaving correctly for the first time ever, including stacks with uplinks spread across switches.

We use band steering on all of our SSID's without any (known) problems. I would highly recommend moving to a 25.X release though as the 25 branch brings a lot of nice stuff like AP client load balancing. We're currently using 25.3 without any (known) issues and it sounds like many others are using 25.5 successfully as well (we had an issue with SSID's not broadcasting with 25.5 on MR33's).

The name you set in Dashboard becomes part of the hostname. Unfortunately you can't set the entire hostname though. (I assume you're talking about Meraki devices here... not client devices.)

Two things: are all of your AP's in one big Dashboard network? What do your switch port configs look like for the AP's?
