@Aaron_Wilson I totally agree and my thoughts as well, I have been doing some tests with an MS220-8P and had no issues, and have a MS320-24P that I will use operationally and this should have plenty of "backplane" and its got the 10G ports 🙂 I still would love to find out why the NewTek support guys appear to say do not use, even though the actually appear to be happy with Unifi switches what are ls not on their "tested" switches.

DR1, Thanks and interesting, I have been using 3 BD P200's and 2 BD MINI encloders, with no issues other then the need for a 10g port, this has so far been on a MS220-8P also with no issues. But whenever the switch question comes up on the BD or NDI facebook communities there are a number of people who comment that NewTek support say "avoid Meraki" - I want to try and find out why. But be interested in your findings - what switches are you using ? Thanks Gary

Gang, I am not sure if there is anyone else here (like me) also playing with NDI video, for anyone who does not know what it is: NDI is a protocol that is for transported almost loss-less HDMI and 4K over IP, developed by NewTek, its the video version of Dante (which does the same for audio and has been around for some years). There are constant discussions and requests for information about switches online that have the "umph" to support NDI as a 1080p60 stream is a CBR of 180mb/s and so if you have more than 4 streams you will need a 10G uplink port to get the data out of the switch. There are a number of people who, when I say I am using Meraki, comment that Meraki switches are not good for NDI and that NewTek insiders say they do not give a great service. Whilst I am only using (for now) a 220/8P and 4 NDI streams I can not find an evidence technically and no one has offered me any, as to why this may be the case. This is a general shout out to find anyone else using / playing with NDI over Meraki to see what their thoughts are and have a discussion. @Meraki is there any NDI guru's that could have a private chat with me over this - if we can find a way to disprove this, it could be an awesome revenue stream - these guys building NDI networks think nothing of spending $2-3K on a single camera, so many of them have the money but not the network expertise and they are out there buying Unifi and Netgear because it's easy to use and has a low price entry point.

So guys, After much testing and trials, it appears I have found the solution, but I have no idea as to why it was happening. To solve the issue all I needed to do in the end was turn off client VPN on the dashboard, what 10 mins (turning it back on straight away, did not work) and then turn on. I also have to delete the VPN set-up on the mac and create a new one. I am not sure if this a part of the issue or just coincidental but I also made sure the MX's all 14.53 (Please can someone accept this as a solution)

Friends, Anyone else suddenly seeing Client VPN issues, specifically with Apple based products OS & iOs I have had a client report issues yesterday and now doing some checking, I am also having issues VPN'ing into MX64's at a number of sites (including back into my own). It's almost like a DDNS issue, but I am not sure (but will test in a mo with IP's) When I switched off client VPN, waited a few mins then turned it back on, the original client config still fails, however, if I create a new client config, everything is back working (a bit like the W10 update issue), there has been a number of Apple updates this last few days but according to the doc's nothing to do with core networking firmware. I am doing some more tests now, but: a) wanted to see if anyone else was having issues b) give a heads up just-in-case people may have issues and not yet aware of them -Gary

Friends, I am pleased to say I have just completed the (online) ECMS2 course with two great Meraki guys @DavidLowe and @ Rafaelmarta who were brilliant in the way the delivered the course. The 3 days we fast-paced, with a very heavy first day, with the second two days just as busy but with more lab content. Unfortunately, the content does duplicate many things that are covered in the CMNO and CMNA courses but this is a small price to pay for the rest that is covered. Next stop is to take the ECMS2 exam which is not ratified yet, hopefully towards the end of the year. I am hoping this will also allow me to add some additional value (time permitting) to the community, of which I am passionate about supporting, where I can. I know many of you are trying to get on the course, (I waited over a year from first applying) but I understand that they are going to be offering it via external partners in the future which should allow more people access to it. Anyone found a way to allow all the inbound client VPN traffic to terminate on the WAN2 port of an MX. I am sure you used to be able to do this but can not find the option. And I being thick or has this been removed? TIA

Hi there, I have many clients that are using card machines or Meraki networks and all of them are subject to the PCI/DSS compliance tests (in fact in the UK they get a surcharge each month if the check is not completed or fails). Firstly I am not sure why you need to do anything other than plug it in and go, it should not need a static IP nor any 1:1 mapping, because the Meraki MX is a stateful firewall the card machine should just connect to the merchant service provider. Secondly, for the PCI compliance when the company do a port scan looking for open ports, if they find them and report back to you (or your client) as long as you can explain why the ports are open and what measure you have in place to mitigate any breach, they will give you an exception. An example would be for perhaps the POS till company who may need remote access to the tills for support, you would open the port for VNC but with access only to the specific till IP's - this is what you would then provide this as justification the card company for the VNC port being open. ******* C19 Side note for anyone who is reading this ********** There is a known issue with Ingenico PDQ machines being caused by excessive cleaning using sprays for COVID cleaning, the machines are seeing the liquid dripping behind the keys as an "attack" and locking the machines with an "Alert Irruption Error Message" and the only option is to have the machine replaced, which can take up to 10 days - the solution is only to wipe them with wipes and

@DJDonovan , Thanks for the thoughts, the issue appears to be network-wide on multiple AP's, they are all connected to switch ports that are set to trunk mode. As I mentioned in the original post, I have set this solution/set-up many times before as its part of my business, which is why I am very confused. Its as though DHCP is being blocked but I have checked the switch settings and DHCP servers are not being blocked. I do have an ACL in place for another vLAN, which I have just deleted so will try again and see what happens. Any other thoughts as to what could / would block dhcp would be appreciated.. TIA -Gary

Guys Thanks, the network already has a number of ssids with vlans associated to them and the switch-ports are all set to trunk. It's actually my own network so it's quite mature and been working fine. I will start again today, having stripped back as much as I can, but I also have a lab/reference platform that I can test it on. That said, I have been playing with this kit for a long time and in a LBC (Life before Corona) would normally be setting this type of access up monthly for external events, so I am not sure what is occurring, but I WILL get to the bottom of it.

Friends, I have spent the evening trying to solve this problem and got nowhere. I am having some very odd DHCP issues, I created a new vLAN and then a new SSID and configured it to use the vLAN but when a device connects its not being served a DHCP address. I have done this hundreds if not thousands of times and even though I am tired and often (in the past) missed the obvious, this time I have tried to eliminate each bit of the set-up but still can not see what it's not working. I was just wondering if anyone else has seen an issue like this in the last couple of days, just in case its a firmware or dashboard issue. I am off to bed now but would appreciate any overnight thoughts TIA

@WillN BT is a trier 1 service provider so they peer in all the EU peering locations and therefore if they have a BGP issue it will, in theory, impact on all their traffic in the EU and potentially globally. So I would guess that Cisco peer with BT in Europe so any Cisco traffic that is routed via the BT or inside BT's AS number is likely to be affected.

Guys, Just spoken to Meraki support and there was a BGP issue with BT in the UK and this caused much of the traffic to fail (and I guess route incorrectly) it has been treated as a MI and I am sure we will get more information on what actually happened in due course. Dies someone want to close this thread otherwise it will gon on and on and on and on

There appears to be a major incident with regards to network and dashboard - since 2007 I have never seen this level of outage from Meraki. CAN SOMEONE GIVE US AN UPDATE - PLEASE Been on hold for 30 mins .......

It looks like my sites that have dashboards based in North America are OK but if the dashboard is UK or Europe, its failed with some sites losing everything and others nothing - odd
