Monitor Catalyst 916x APs & C9800 while being managed by DNAC
Since now monitoring of Catalyst switches managed by DNAC with a valid subscription via Meraki dashboard is possible, simultaneously then i have a question:
Can a CW9166i-US managed via C9800 & DNAC, be only monitored via Meraki dashboard simultaneously, without conversion into Meraki?
Solved! Go to solution.

I have heard a little bird tell me that you will also be able to monitor CAT9800 in the Meraki dashboard down the road.
But I think its somewhat far down the road, since we have just had release for monitoring of the CAT switches (and the management of those switches in dashboard is still not publically available).
So Im guessing that you are looking at a 6 - 12 months timeframe <- Pure guessing from my side.
But in theory yes, then you could monitor your 9800 both in DNA-C and The Meraki Dashboard, like you would be able to do with all your switches. - The only question is why would you want to monitor them (it) in both places ?

I don't believe you can monitor simultaneously with Dashboard and DNAC.

At this time only 3 families of switches are supported to be monitored on the Meraki dashboard. These are the Catalyst 9200, 9300 and 9500 families of switches.
The CW Access Points will run IOS if you want to use them with a C9800 controller and monitor it with DNA-C or run Meraki software so you can natively manage it via Meraki dashboard.

Connecting an appliance to both DNAC and Dashboard is not supported today. We are investigating a means to provide the functionality but have some firmware limitations we have to investigate further.

Hey team! Just letting you know that Cloud Monitoring for Catalyst Wireless is now available in public beta. Check out documentation here: https://documentation.meraki.com/Cloud_Monitoring_for_Catalyst
Co-existence with Catalyst Center is not officially supported at this time

What i am not able to comprehend is if i move my controller to meraki dashboard & then as per the doc:
"Can I connect wireless controllers to Meraki dashboard and Catalyst Center?
At this time co-existence on the same Catalyst 9800 wireless controller with dashboard catalyst center is not supported."
Henceforth I will NOT be able to manage it via DNAC/Catalyst Center.
Then how will i push future configurations?

Hi @FlyingFrames!
Thanks for the feedback. Co-existence is something we are reviewing. It's not officially supported at the moment.
As instantiated, Cloud monitoring public beta is a great fit for many use cases - some examples include:
- Customers looking to monitor Cisco and Meraki gear in a single pane of glass dashboard
- Customers seeking to graduate to cloud managed, wanting to take a first step into cloud
- Customers who don't use/don't want to use Catalyst Center, but need a monitoring tool
Since Catalyst Center provides both management and monitoring capabilities, I'm interested to understand more about your particular use case and the desire to monitor in dashboard (and if that includes management needs - what those are).

My concern is how would i configure the catalyst devices if i start monitoring them in Meraki using this feature! Many times, an additional SSID has to be added or tx power needs to be tweaked, what about that?

@FlyingFrames Sounds like more day to day support transactional needs with regard to configuration, is that correct? Aside from SSID and tx power tweaks, anything else come to mind? How about day 0 support?
