Meraki SFP requires License?

Hi all,

Recently we had a customer request a quote for some Meraki equipment. In that quote, we have a few Meraki SFP's (specifically the MA-SFP-1GB-SX). When we got our pricing for one of our distributors there was a comment on the the line item for the SFP's specifying "All Meraki devices require a license for activation".

My question for you all is, does Meraki require licensing of each individual SFP?

After a few quick google searches I couldn't find anything that would indicate that this is the case.

Thanks!

@AFlack20 : The answer is no. The license is based on device not on module. So one device one license it doesn’t matter how many SFP/SFP+ it has.

No.  It sounds like a cosmetic mistake because in general every device does need a license to operate, but there are exceptions like SFP or mounting bracket or antenna, etc.

No SFP modules do not require a license. The switch you are plugging them into (if it Meraki) does require a license.
