MS225-48FP and MS210-48FP Physical Stacking question

Hi there, I am designing a new switch stack and wanted to verify a concept with my fellow Meraki enthusiasts.

In their MDF I would place 6 switches.

  • 1 x MS225-48FP
  • 5 x MS210-48FP
  • 5 x MA-CBL-40G-1M (to physically stack the MS225-48FP as the top switch and the other MS210-48FP)
  • 1 x MA-CBL-40G-3M (to connect the bottom MS210-48FP stack port to the second stack port on the MS225-48FP.

if you have 5 switches in stack.  you best off with 5 cable.

see your second picture. 4 switches 4 stacking cables

Yup, that's supported. MS210 and MS225 can be attached together. Stacks of 8 switches is the max supported and you would be at 6.

But you're missing stacking cables. You need one per switch.

MS225 -- MS210 -- MS210 -- MS210 -- MS210 -- MS210

Also note that you don't necessarily need a long cable physically. You can use all short cables too.

Here's the principle (shown with 3750X but the principle is the same):

253200

As opposed to:

253201

Yes, I'm very familiar with Catalyst switch stacking.

Thank you for your help.
