MA-SFP-10GB-SR is not working with MS130-48X

Hi folks,

I have recently purchased MS130-48X and MX250 and MA-SFP-10GB-SR, as  per the compatibility matrix these SFP should work with the switch and  firewall.

But when i am plugging in these modules my sfp ports are not coming up.

i have tried with different third party module and they are working fine.

Just want to see what could be the possible error that the meraki modules are not coming up with the devices.

Looking forward to your responses.

Regards,
Ayush

If it's just the module not working and other modules are of the same type (10GB Multimode) and are working, the module is probably just bad. Support should be able to RMA it for you.

There's an off chance it could be software or some sort of bug and support would be able to diagnose that as well. With SFPs there is little to see or configure in the dashboard. They autodetect the module and if it's a switch you can see the DOM output, but that's about it.

i understand that single module can go Bad, but i have 8 of them and none of them are coming up.

Yes that is strange, I see in your other replies, that it only doesn't work on the switch side, that more closely points to a bug that support would need to diagnose.

Try using a different SFP+ port on the switch or firewall. Have you seen any error messages or status indicators for the SFP port on the Meraki panel?

Nothing, Port light are not turning up even after connecting two switches, nor the port is showing in the dashboard.

Edit, in firewall the modules are working fine, but not with the switch

Well, you could test the SFP on a device other than Meraki, if possible, but in this case it looks more like an SFP RMA.

Another thing you can try is reversing the fiber strands at one end.

You're using the correct fiber patch cord, right?

Yup the patch cords are fine as the same one we are using with MX

Have you tried restarting the switch or updating the firmware?

If you have 8 modules not coming up, you need to swap the send/receive fibre in your cable.  They'll be the wrong way around.
