Is it possible to Stack two MS220 switches?

Hi,

Can someone please advise, I am trying to stack two 8 port MS220 switches. Is this possible? The first switch works fine and is online but I need more ports and have connected port 8 on the additional switch to port 8 on the working switch by a network cable. I notice stacking is not available as an option with the port configuration. Is there any additional configuration this is required or should it start working? for some reason the additional switch is showing as Dormant.

No, you can't physically stack the MS220:

Does the native vlan on the uplink ports between both switches match?  That's assuming you're running a Trunk between both.

Yes they do match and are native VLAN 1. It states they cannot be physically stacked so does it not matter that they are currently physically connected by a network cable into port 8 on both switches?

Hi @phelimmc , the physical stacking relates to the use of dedicated stacking ports on the switches.  What you're doing here is fine and would be labeled daisy-chaining switches.

is the switch still not registering out to the cloud?  is the device getting an IP address via dhcp or have you statically assigned its management iP?
