Advice on replacing WS-C3750X-48P switches with Meraki equivalent

Hi,

We have 20+ WS-C3750X-48P switches that reach end of life in a few months. Typically they are 4 switches (WS-C3750X-48P) that form part of a stack. Can anyone please suggest if the WS-C3750X-48P switches can be replaced by stackable (layer 3 preferable) Meraki switches?

We use Meraki for our wireless network and ideally would like to replace the Cisco end of life switches with Meraki core switches that support multiple VLANs.

Multiple options here. I would see the MS35X as the logical replacement. But with having a couple of switches here I would probably build a new Core/Aggregation with two MS425 and connect a couple of MS250-stacks to it for the users. For the servers I would probably use an additional MS355 stack because of the MGIG interfaces.

It depends on what the future will bring.

If you think multigig will be needed within the next 3 years then yes go for MS355 for the classic MS switching experience.  However if you can handle a few bugs and want to consider Cisco Trustsec/Meraki adaptive policy then you'll need MS390 variants.

If you don't really need all that bling you can stick with the MS250 or 350 range.

The main differences between these families is a higher stacking bandwidth, more MAC addresses and more SVI's on the 350 but usually way too much for most environments.

I’d go with Ms425’s at the core for 10Gig uplinks to the edge and then Ms250’s at the edge.

if budget isn’t an issue and Mgig a requirement further down the line then look at the ms355’s

As for the ms390’s....I wouldn’t touch them

MS355s all the way.

We replaced the three unit 3850 stack in our DR data centre with MS355s and they have behaved very well.  We did have some issues with connected 2960s and Force10 switches, but it was errors in their config that were exposed and once rectified all has been good.

Client visibility and performance is very good, upgrades work well and overall very happy with them.
