SMS motion alerts a thing?

Hi All

One area that I manage needs to have SMS alerts as staff are often not in front of a computer but need to be alerted to security concerns ASAP.

Emails aren't reliable because if someone is walking and hears an email notification on their phone they are less likely to check it compared to a SMS alert.

Also recipients being granular per camera would be a nice feature as different buildings have different staff. Alert notifications could be associated with the camera profiles.

If your cell provider supports email to SMS that's a way to do it today https://documentation.meraki.com/MV/Advanced_Configuration/Motion_Alerts#Sending_Emails_to_an_SMS_Ph...

I see two options for your case, use an email-to-SMS gateway as informed by Ryan, create an alert on the dashboard and associate it with a camera profile, or create a Webhooks and send alerts through a service like Twilio via API.

I am not a Cisco Meraki employee. My suggestions are based on documentation of Meraki best practices and day-to-day experience.

Agree 100% and I have fed this back to Meraki.  Like yourself we have different users that need to recv alerts from specific cameras, as it is at present its all or nothing.

Maybe create alert profiles that cameras can be assigned to - exactly the same way as the MT alerts work.

Yeah, in this instance it seems like notifications were added in simplistic form and has been forgotten about. I would have thought in their own internal testing they would have found the current method lacking.
