What's the story around MT10-HW licensing?

Hi everyone,

I'm confused - What's the story around MT10-HW licensing? I have 5 "free bee" perpetual MTs but for some reason Meraki is telling me that NO, I have to buy the same one for my MT10 except pay; why can't I use one of the existing unassigned 5 MTs?

Who's right?

Hi @Boyan1 , my understanding is that the free MT licences can be used against any Meraki IOT device such as the MT10.

What happens when you assign the MT10 to your network?

Is it Meraki telling you otherwise or is there a Cisco Partner involved here?

There we go 😁

The AM either doesn’t understand that the license in your dashboard can be applied to any MT or they’re trying to upsell.

Just buy your MT device from an online retailer or find a smaller Partner that you can work with.

Sounds like partner doesn't understand or is trying to pull a quick one on you. I have MT's using the free licenses and have not had any issue.

I simply tell my supplier at the time of order if i need licensing or not as swapping out MR's for newer models often doesn't need a license as it will use the existing license.

You are actually a special case, because your network is configured for subscription licencing.

Free licencing applies automatically to co-term licencing.

I think you have discovered a licencing "bug", a corner case that has not been considered.  Try opening a support case.  And if you have a Meraki AM, try looping them in as well.

I think this will require a lot of effort to get sorted.
