Vrfs on MX

Hi,

Is it possible to add multiple VRFs to a Meraki MX, similar to what can be done on a router or a firewall? If not, is this a feature that Meraki is considering adding to the MX in the future?

Thank you.

Regards,

Kwame.

No, it's not. The MX does not support VRFs.

I am not a Cisco Meraki employee. My suggestions are based on documentation of Meraki best practices and day-to-day experience.

Put that request in the "Give your feedback" box on the dashboard and describe your use case.

But don't hold your breath for this feature. I assume the "typical" Meraki customer doesn't need any VRFs.

Meraki currently does not have support for VRFs. However the last I heard, they are currently working on implementing VRF support (In a VRFlite-version), and that it should be coming soon.

I think this was showcased on one of the latest Tech Field Days.

I'm almost sure this doesn't include MX.

VRFs are mentionend in regards to Adaptive Policy, and one the the requirements for Adaptive Policy is an MX. So I'd assume there is going to be some sort of functionality within the MX.

But still, this is still rather new, and Meraki has been keeping rather quiet about the feature, so we'll just have to see how the implementation is going to work out.

I heard the same thing. No hard commitment on that one , maybe MX 20 or MX 21.

I'll take MX25 if we are getting lottery tickets.

And for the switching line, they were only talking about Catalyst-M and not the "normal" MS line.

If you watch closely in the video from Tech Field Day as well, you may notice some other features, that they seem to be working on. E.g. Org-Wide L7 rules. Or at least, I haven't seen it before.

Interesting to see when that will happen. 🙂
