MX67 - WAN Speed Increased?

MX67 - WAN Speed Increased?

So when I first bought the MX67 model, the max bandwidth (and still stated on the MX Family Datasheet), is 450Mbps.

I'm creating a new site today with an MX67 and I just noticed the max bandwitdth for the WAN interfaces can now go up to 600Mbps.

I checked all my previously built sites, and they show this:

When I click on the 'simple' button, it gives me the option to increase it to 600Mbps.

The only other MX I have is the MX84, which can still only go up to 500Mbps.

All my MX units for all sites are running firmware version 15.44, and I don't see any notes about it being increased.

Anyone else seeing this?

Hiya @NolanHerring , been a little while. How’s it going?

Is it just cosmetic?  Do you actually get that throughput when testing?

Just because it was realised "they can go faster than we thought" or are they now faster by running Snort3 instead of Snort2?

They have been turned up to 11...

Getting noticed

MX's are all rate-limited internally so they line up nicely on the spec sheet.

Like when the Z1 got nerfed years ago.

@Ryan_Miles any other models had an increase?

no

Damn I figured we'd see a little bump across the platforms, so seems like I should dump an MX84 that I have at home running on a 1G fiber connect for an MX67 at least I could use more of the connection without having to jump over to the provider router.

Well thanks for the update @Ryan_Miles  -  Was there an announcement about this? I only ask because I have sites that could have benefit from this increase but I never knew about it, so never increased it. If it was announced I want to make sure I'm able to get those notifications for improvements like these, vs stumbling across them randomly.

And hi @DarrenOC , hope you are doing well 😃

I had noticed that, and thought it must be a dashboard error.

Updated throughput numbers are posted here now

An updated MX Sizing Guide is underway

Was the throughput increase achieved solely through software and if so, what MX firmware version? Or was it achieved through hardware revision? Wondering if this applies to only newly purchased MX67/68 appliances.

Tagging @Ryan_Miles for visibility.

@harmankardon we have an MX67 from when they first came out and it has been upgraded, so I'd be 99% sure it is all of them.

No hardware revision. It's now rolled out to any MX67/68.

Thanks. Was the roll out part of a MX firmware release and if so, starting at which version?

No, not tied to any specific firmware release AFAIK.

I have set it to 600, but get 1000Mbit.

On a MX67/68 and for internet-traffic? Security enabled?

Yes wan traffic, Security disabled. 😉

Security is broken on 17.x firmware only 200mbit is left. On 16.x you get like 700Mbit with security

My basic testing produced the following results

Your tests get more speed with security :D.

Iperf gets me 200Mbit on fw17 with sec and meraki support tells me its expected. Good to see you get more.

Can more people share results  on 17.6 with amp on and ips(security)?  Thnx
