Content Filtering categories changing?

Today we experienced an issue where two of our business partner sites were suddenly blocked by Meraki content filtering - one of them by the Phishing Category and the other by Computer and Internet Info.  This was a surprise to us.  Are there some major updates happening under the hood on these categories, or were we just unlucky enough to partner with a couple of services that have been recently hit by bad actors?

At  firmware  15.x , 16.x brightcloud is used.

They provide what is blocked or not.

From 17.x Talos Intelligence will provide the content filter.

Thanks for the quick response.  We're currently on 15.x which looks like the latest production release according to our dashboard.  Any thoughts on when 17.x will be released?

17.x just recently entered Beta, more so 16.14 is the current Stable Release Candidate. Should take a little while, although 17.x looks promising in m test environment(s).

Thank you.  BTW I have 2600 reasons why I like your screen name. 🙂

Since our content filtering is currently provided by a third-party, sometimes definitions may change without our knowledge or control. As others have pointed out, as of 17.x firmware, definitions will be provided more internally from TALOS.

In the mean time, if it's not possible to add those domains to your permit lists in content filtering, and you have reason to suspect a domain was misclassified, please open up a Support case. We have a contact form with Brightcloud we can use to report misclassifications to them, and get those domains corrected.
