Auto install Rosetta 2 on M1 Macbooks

Hi guys,

I have got my first M1 Macbook in my org and noticed that the Meraki Agent will not install unless you have Rosetta 2 installed on the Macbook.

As I DEP enroll my Macbooks I really would want to have it automatically install Rosetta 2 so that the Agent can run.

Have any of you guys managed to solve it?

I have tried adding:

/usr/sbin/softwareupdate --install-rosetta --agree-to-license

as a Command Line to run after one of my apps install

and I have tried to make my own .pkg-file with no payload and only a post-script that runs the same command as above.

But none of them seems to work for me, Rosetta 2 never manages to install and the Meraki Agent never comes online.

@MarkusK  Try   sudo softwareupdate --install-rosetta --agree-to-license

That is what we use on Jamf and it works ok, have not tried the command you have provided.

Hey @BlakeRichardson,

I tried that too now.

Created a pkg with a preinstall-script that just run

sudo softwareupdate --install-rosetta --agree-to-license

I then put the pkg in a dmg and uploaded to Meraki as a custom app and tried to install it but Meraki just reports the install as failed and Rosetta is not installed.
