Hello,

I would like to know if this also supports FirstNet band 14?

Thanks!

Hi Vance

MG21 does NOT support FirstNet band 14. It's something we are looking into in future product offerings

Getting noticed

Hi

I can see that the MG21 and MG21E are available on CCW, however, what isn't clear from the documentation is if the MG21 and MG21E has the same license SKU.

As it stands i can see LIC-MG21-ENT-#Y

But i can't see any license for the specific license on the MG21E SKU..  Eg. LIC-MG21E-ENT-#Y

Can anyone advise if the MG21 and MG21E have the same license pattern, or have i jumped on too early an we are waiting for the 21E SKU License version to be released?

Thanks

Ian

Hi Ian,

The MG team has made some adjustments to the documentation:

Hi Ian

MG21 and MG21E use the same license

Hello - are there any images of the external antennas available yet? The cellular antenna page of the website has not been loading for me since it was published (https://meraki.cisco.com/products/cellular/cellular-antenna).

Thanks!

Thinking of using the MG21 for WAN at a remote site during construction. I want to connect an MX . If the MG is POE which MX has a POE WAN port?

Hey @Netwow - none of the MX models have PoE enabled WAN ports; you would either want to use a PoE injector (SKU: MA-INJ-4-US) or AC adapter (SKU: MA-PWR-30W-US) to power the MG21. (if not located in the U.S., replace "US" with "EU", "AU", "UK" etc.) Source: https://documentation.meraki.com/Wireless_WAN/MG21%2F%2F21E_Datasheet

Haven´t had the change to work with MG21 yet, does it always NAT the traffic or is there a bridge mode alternative configurable which would allow just stupid internet flow to another device, I´m thinking MX?

Would that make any sense for that kind of device?

The only thing I could think of would be using it in Safe Mode: https://documentation.meraki.com/zGeneral_Administration/Tools_and_Troubleshooting/Using_the_Cisco_M... but as this is solely useable for troubleshooting (from my point of view) it dosen't really make sense to use the MG that way.

'lo all....

Just received an MG21 and would like to set it up with an MX64 as a failover LTE connection.

Any advice?  Where do I start?   Just plug it in to one of the MX64's ports and then somehow tell the MX that's a second WAN?

Thanks for any pointers!

Hey, Yourguide32,

For the MX64, you will just need to manually configure the "LAN 4" port as a secondary Internet/WAN port. To do this, you will need to sign in to the local status page (http://setup.meraki.com) and toggle the LAN4 port from LAN to Internet, through Uplink configuration under the Local status tab. These steps are also outlined on the MX64 installation guide here: https://documentation.meraki.com/MX/Installation_Guides/MX64_Installation_Guide

The configuration process on the MG21 itself is very simply; you just need to install the nano sim card from your cellular carrier, claim to your dashboard, add it to an active network and then physically connect to your MX and power (AC adapter or PoE injector). Full installation guide can be found here: https://documentation.meraki.com/MG/MG21%2F%2FMG21E_Installation_Guide

Hope that helps!

We've been selling Cisco Meraki for years and I can't believe that I honestly missed these epic little things being released. Definitely going to consider them for future deployments.
