only that the SSID that the client is attached to has a red dot next to it on the rogue list. The client went offline at 1pm EST today. I doubt it was unplugged so either the device failed, or the wireless connection went down. The client is set to reestablish connectivity automatically.

I turned off Private in the Wi-Fi setup and it started working but I'm not sure that was the issue. I ran into login issues using iPad on another network so I contacted Apple. During troubleshooting the iPad connected - no explanation why.

Thanks! It provides some info on a location level. Would the API provide a method to pull data on an SSID level? I looked at the API documentation but couldn't tell the level of detail it could provide.

The only test you can use is the dashboard throughput test but this is still not 100% accurate since the dashboard itself is not a tool for speedtesting. Since your throughput is limited by the wireless aspect anyway it could be a good idea to have the highest speed wireless client close to the AP in ideal circumstances and a wide channel so you have the highest PHY possible and make sure that client is the only one connected at that time to test and use iPerf between that wireless client towards a wired client on the same switch where the AP is wired to so you have the best possible scenario. Do mind that even if you use a 4x4 AP your client will be 2x2 at most. A good reference is to acount for about 5/6th's of your PHY speed as throughput to what you should be getting at between your clients. If the result is way lower than you expect then you still have to determine is the issue is on the wireless side or the wired side by checking out the airtime and do an OTA to double check if the AP is doing nice aggregated data packets.

Thank you. I appreciate the responses. For soft handoff between cellular and WiFi you need a connection between the cellular core network and the WiFi controller. For authentication and coordination of the handoff. I thought this was an idea that was getting traction a few years back but maybe it never went anywhere.

If possible I usually disable 2.4Ghz completely.

It sounds like the aim of extending the omnis is to extend the coverage provided by the AP. By definition this would have to involve some locations being effectively out of reach for some of the antenna elements. This will severely affect multi-stream clients, where AP and client think they can establish streams, some of which will work and some of which won't. If this is the case, cable extensions won't help.

From the installation guide: "Both 2.4 GHz and 5 GHz client serving radios are diplexed onto each antenna port, so if using multiple antennas it is best practice to aim all in the same coverage area."

No, it won’t be affected. Although, I very rarely see MU-MIMO actually working in the wild.
