Our company had an MSP do the high level design for our Meraki network and then my team did the implementation. I am not sure that best practices have been followed because we now have issues with our VMware servers going nuts when the MS355-24X2 (2 switch stack) is updated (firmware). Since Meraki treats a stack as 1 switch the whole stack goes off line during the update. The MSP company insisted on the stacks for redundancy. Should I be using stacks for these core switches?  Basic network: MS225-48  7 of these in a stack for devices access. No problems here MS425-16  2 of these in a stack for all other connections, IDF cabinets in the building, etc. MS355-24X2  2 of these in a stack for the VMware servers.  This one seems to be the potential source of the problem.    Any recommendations are welcome. ... This error appeared on newly installed MX75: This device is using a DHCP IP address from VLAN 0 instead of using configured VLAN 1 .  History is that previous network equipment owned by soemone else so we took equipment out and installed/created a new network, Everything seems to work but this error. Previous installation had the Meraki ms120-24 directly connected to the ISP. Config now is: ISP MX75 MS120-24 10 MR46E AP    The ISP is still handing out dhcp . We turned off dhcp in the MX75. MR46E Firmware:  MR30.5 Connected to MS120-8 FP  port 5  Trunk The Problem is intermittent high crc errors on the MR46e. The MR46e then disconnects. Cycling the port on the switch restores the MR46e. Not much load the the MR - only 4 clients. Cable tests have been run several times and it always shows clean. Cable length 120 ft CAT 6. We've tried moving the MR46e to another port - same result. Very random and we have not been able to pinpoint a problem. Logs show only many RSTP transitions on that port 5 of the switch. I have looked at the alert configuration for the MT20 and I haven't figured out what "alert" actually means. Does that mean recording a door event to the log regardless of a "schedule" set up? What I am trying to do is NOT have the alerts trigger sending an email during 8-5 business hours but still send an alert to the logs. I have 8 networks under 1 Meraki cloud portal. All of my MX items are running 29.7.1 except 1 network on 29.5. I was planning on scheduling firmware updates for tonight but when I looked for 29.7.1 , it's been replaced by 30.5  . Question is, will I have issues if I upgrade this 1 network to 30.1 and the rest of the networks are 29.71?  I am required to use a slow, phased approach to these upgrades so I can't upgrade all to 30.1 in  one day. I will soon be installing a Meraki MS425-16  in my network as an aggregation switch. I have a few IDF cabinets in the bulding that have Meraki MS120-48 with 1 Gig sfp. Is this going to be an issue connecting these MS120-48 to the MS425-16 ?  How best to accomplish this? ... View more
