I am going to move down to 20MHZ overnight here and see if that makes a difference. We have an AP per classroom. I am nervous about the bandwidth loss but hopefully should be ok. Any opinions?

Thanks guys for your response so far. Take a look at this graph from AP neighbors. It is choosing channel 40 for the channel. 40 isn't even considered one of the non overlapping 40MHZ channels. I would really like it if I could have my all 40MHZ width APs choose only from the non overlapping. EDIT: Also, we still have a profile that uses 20MHZ channel widths as you can see from the diagram. So couldn't this be a problem? The 40 channel is looking at the 40 area for clear to send and then when data is transferring the 44 could be in use without it knowing since it is a 20MHZ channel and cause issues?

Hello Quick question. I have manually set the 5GHZ channel width on our system to 40MHz. I have noticed that the channels being selected are overlapping. I would assume that if I defined 40MHz channel it would pick from one of the 14 non overlapping channels. That is what I would like it to do. With our density 14 channels would work perfectly in terms on non-overlapping etc. When I go into the channel planning area I am only allowed to select 20MHz channels as allowed. Selecting these fills in the 40MHz area. The problem as stated above is that even though my channel width is 40 only it is still picking a mixture of 20 40 and even 80 MHz channel numbers causing overlaps that are even showing as high interference in the AP neighbors area. Is there any way to force the 40MHz channel APs to only pick from the "40MHz" channels? Or am I think wrongly. Hope this all makes sense. Thanks

So, I did some research in these forums. One suggestion was to turn off 802.11W on our Chromebook network. I did this Friday after school and have not had any issues so far today with error 30 on the CB network. I believe 30.6 may have an issue with 802.11W. I have my ticket with Meraki and will be reporting this. Hopefully they will fix so we can turn it back on.

Hi guys, Do you use Auto or Manual under 5 GHZ radio settings? We have things set at 20 and 40 for various networks, but I am interested in A.I. ing as much of our network as possible. Especially as things improve with A.I. features on the Meraki side.

Question for you RSU2it. Can you do me a favor and check something for me on your networks running 30.6? Can you go to your access points list and go to connection log. Can you filter to your Chromebook network and look how many failures on filtered to step association you have with error code 30 in the last day or so? I have one network that is still on 29.7.1 that when I go to it has around 30 code 30 failures for a day. Our network that is on 30.6 has around 300 per day. Seems to be causing Chromebook connections to sort of flap. I am discussing this in my ticket with Meraki, but wondering if anyone on 30.6 is also seeing these extremely high error code 30 errors. Also, btw error code 30 translates into: Association request rejected temporarily; try again later as show by this page linked to me by Meraki support.

Yes. That is exactly where. And yes I am also seeing the same number on 2.4 and 5. We are having weird issues with Chromebooks at our schools, but I also agree that that piece sounds like a dashboard display issue.

Hello We moved our MR 46 access points to 30.6 to solve a major issue where the rates were not being broadcast in probe response packets. Restarting the APs would fix them for a while, but suddenly they would stop taking Chromebook clients again and require another reset. 30.6 was put forth as a solution to this issue by Meraki support and seems to have done that. The problem is that it seems to have introduced other issues. One issue is persistent low level authentication failure for Chromebooks, which have a managed SSID password that is encoded through the Google Admin Console. Another issue is medium to high packet loss on a lot of the access points. Prior to upgrade these access points were reporting low packet loss. We have another network that we have left on 29.7.1 that does not seem to have these issues. Anyone else having those issues. I feel like there may be some major firmware bugs in the 30.6 release.

Hello I am having a very frustrating problem. Everyone once in a while - maybe daily web browsing will stop working on my laptop and I will be unable to ping my default gateway(timeout). At the same time if I am on a zoom or in a remote desktop session neither of these will stop working. If I run a ping -t everything will return to normal after about a minute or two(to me it seems to be the time that it would take for a access point to restart). There is no indication that anything is wrong at all in the dashboard. In fact it says everything looks perfect. Anyone else experience this? We are using MR46s.

Nope. No update. They refuse to see it as an issue and have closed my case. I have even written to my rep and he said he would look into it and then never said anything back.

Yes! We did all those things we were recommended by support with no improvement. I will say that like usual after we did their troubleshooting they closed our case even though I kept telling them that this was still an issue. I also did not hear anything back from our rep after emailing him multiple times and him telling me they would look into it.

We have found this update to be good, but we are having one issue. One of our windows laptop models running a realtek adaptar started having issues after upgrading to the release candidate. Normally our laptops have 15 or less connections in a 24 hour period. After the update this number soared into the 1000s on one particular device type which we have around 100 or so devices deployed. This included devices disconnecting and reconnecting to the same AP over and over in a matter of a couple seconds. This lead to lagging and issues with Zoom clients especially. Anyone else run into this?

I have the same exact issue. This has occurred since we just upgraded to the 28.5 firmware. We experience no lose of internet connectivity or power to the device. The device itself doesn't appear to be going down... of course these connection errors are random and many have happened after hours and of course I was not looking at the AP. I have also submitted a case to Meraki. I am hoping a bug in the firmware?
