Has anyone upgraded to 15.20 on stacked MS390s? If so, what has your experience been like? Specifically, I'm wondering about broken PoE or other major issues.

NolanHerring, thank you for calling out the pain point of release notes being vague...Quite a few of us are experiencing widespread client disconnects due to "excess frame loss" and it would be great to know if the release in question addresses it or if the problem is noted as a known issue.

Hwarraich, thank you for your suggestion. My organization is exclusively experiencing issues with Apple MacOS/iOS devices although we support Android phones, Windows laptops, and Chromebooks extensively. We hoped the issue was related to a know Apple issue addressed HERE but the problem persists after the updates.

Also experiencing this issue and have been told what other users already reported: When a client that is connected to AP-1(using this as an example) roams over to AP-2, AP-1 still thinks it's connected to client, but it never receives a response from the client. This is when AP-1 disassociates the client due to 'excess frame loss'. One engineer spent HOURS working on this with me, collecting tons of data points but eventually said there wasn't much that he could do and asked me to do further testing on my own... Meraki support - any help would be highly appreciated as this ongoing issue is destroying my staff's trust in your wireless solution.

Got an answer regarding upgrading to 15.14.1 from 15.14 as it relates to the fix for flash corruption: The MS390 stack corrupting its firmware happens specifically when upgrading TO 15.14 or when a reboot occurs on a switch stack of 8 (<1% of the time). It is advised that with smaller switch stacks it's more applicable to stay on 15.14 unless you’ve run into a specific issue that needs the new maintenance release.

Makes sense. Our largest deployments were 6/5 units so 3 just happened to work for us. Our Meraki Dashboard seems healthier after splitting our MS390 stacks: MV 700 Wing MS390s

Hi BlakeRichardson, Yes, I removed and re-inserted the PSUs at locations A (three MS390 stack) and B (two single units) without success. What I find odd is that location D’s issue started and disappeared on it’s own without intervention.

Also use MR55s, as well as MR56, MR84 and MR86 on 28.6. For us the AP drops started after updating our MS390 firmware to 15.14 on 4/29/22. Can confirm it’s not a cosmetic issue, the APs stop responding to pings and clients cannot connect. Power cycling the APs switchport restores functionality and I don’t believe I’ve had to restart the same unit twice but still frustrating. This morning I had 9 APs down: Also considered upgrading to 28.6.1 but it doesn’t seem to address the issue.

Have not had a chance to reboot the units since the upgraded to 15.14 on 4/29/22, so roughly two weeks ago. Switches are located at different sites. Confirmed power to PSUs is good, made no physically changes to power sources except for reseating the PSUs and power cords, and the PSUs show as connected on the Meraki Dashboard. Location A - 3 units in a stack. Location B - Two single MS390s with PSU Slot 2 offline alerts (one pictures below). Location C - PSU Slot 2 alerting for weeks now. Location D - PSU Slot 2 was alerting but cleared up on it’s own after a day or so. I’ll probably end up rebooting the units when there is less user activity but any suggestions would be appreciated. Again, I’ve already pulled and reconnected power cords and reset the PSUs.

Had multiple stacks of 5+ switches fail to upgrade when rolling out 15.14. Was able to restore functionality by breaking the stacks and upgrading each switch individually, per SE’s recommendation, which took hours considering each switch took 20/30 minutes to boot, download and install the firmware and boot again. This wasn’t the first time we’d been burned by failed stack upgrades so we ended up implementing a 3 switch stack cap since we had the SFP modules, SFP+ units, fiber pairs and a Distribution switch with enough free SFP+ ports. This means we now have two independent stacks of 3 switches in some IDFs and it cleared up the constant Meraki Dashboard drops on the previously 5 or 6 unit stacks…but I’m still seeing single MS390s drop off for no obvious reason and during times when essentially nobody is using the network as shown on the following image: Waiting for our Technical Solutions Architect to find more information on 15.14.1 to decide if it’s needed or suggested.
