Re: Connection instability with certain client devices

Hey Russ!   To your first finding, which AP to connect to is a purely client side decision (as are things like when a client decides to roam from one AP to another one). Each client device vendor has their own algorithm taking in a bunch of different factors to determine which is the "best" AP to connect to; the main one being RSSI Threshold (received signal strength). Some client devices have a higher threshold and some a lower one, for what signal level they appropriate before they need to move to a new AP.   For the second one, I think you may have hit the nail on the head. 2.4GHz is very congested (having only 3 "usable" channels for all 2.4Ghz devices). Since WiFi is a shared medium, the client device has to compete with all other 2.4Ghz clients. Other client factors such as how many spatial streams does the client have can come in to play as well. Since the iPhone is able to max out it's connection, it would seem to point towards 2.4Ghz RF congestion being the culprit.   Cheers,   Joe ... View more

Hey @watdee,   Meraki Go currently doesn't supported extending the LAN via the ethernet port on Meshed Repeaters. Feel free to submit this as feedback from within the Meraki Go App! Cheers,   Joe ... View more

Hey @RJMac1,   The Meraki Go Access Points automatically and dynamically adjust their power levels depending on the environment they are in, the density of the environment, etc. so there is no hard and fast rule around what the radios power would be.   Cheers,   Joe ... View more

Hey @CedricS,   While you could add the additional campus' access points to the original account that you have, you will get a much better experience using multiple accounts. This way, things like traffic analytics are segmented between the locations, so you can ensure you are always getting accurate information (There is currently no mechanism to broadcast certain SSIDs on certain APs, so filtering by SSID wouldn't mitigate this either).   Let me know if you have any other questions!   Cheers,   Joe ... Hey @RyanG,     You are correct, for most situations, you will want to have a router between your Modem and Meraki Go Access Point.   While Meraki Go does not recommend using a Meraki Go Access Point as a network router, you can leverage something called Auto NAT, which will give you NAT functionality, as well as the ability to configure Client Isolation on or off. More information about that can be found here. As mentioned, this is not the recommended deployment, and instead, a dedicated router should be placed between your modem and access point. ... Hey SandwichGuy,   You can manage your subscriptions from the Meraki Go portal. If this is your first subscription, you'll be prompted to provide it when creating your Meraki Go account (from the portal). If this is an additional  subscription , you can add it by logging into the portal, and then clicking "add subscription" (if you don't see "add subscription", click your name in the top right, click manage products, and then click add subscription).   More information about subscription keys can be found in this KB doc. ...
