You can also try using narrower bands, like 40Mhz or even 20Mhz, in case you are getting interfence. In a central business area I typically use 20Mhz bands because of high channel usage by others in the area.

Right, but using this method significantly weakens the effectiveness. If this feature actually works then you end up with a network you can troubleshoot with proactive notification in some places but not in others. That sucks.

Thanks everyone for the input. I believe this is the direction we're going. It will be at least a few days before we begin moving forward with this. So if anyone still has an opinion let me know.

@Kenny_M8 why do they need static management addresses? Old style syslog server or authorisation servers? If you can set them up as a set couldn't you have all the addressing with only the MX WAN being 'wrong' at this point?

this is true which we all know by now. there are however gotchas that are serious and you might not want to do this as the Cloud Monitoring Tool for Catalyst makes a scad of changes including SNMP v2c using the Community Public. This is bad, bad, bad and our pentester has ordered us to delete the line. SNMP v3 has been out for ages and is always preferred over v2c. and for gods sake why use the hackerfriendly community of Public? Our CISO says Cisco is not a security company and that sure is one proof of it.

I'm actively working on trying to get a site setup with this very scenario. My problem is that I have different ASN's at my remote branches (i.e. 646xx where xx = branch number). I'd love to visit with you sometime if you had a few minutes to chat about the overall setup. Maybe we could compare notes a little as to our specific network environments. Send me a direct message if you'd like to try to link up for a brief discussion.

yes, it is true that if you go back to the old version, the SSID name is still appropriate, if you try to go to the new dashboard, the SSID name becomes 0, the previous SSID name is not detected.

I have done this where either an event is in just part of a building, or you want to retrict public access to reception areas etc. Simply assign a tag to those APs and set the SSID to only be enabled on APs with tag X.
