Wow, thank you @nsweeting2, I totally missed that!  I was going off my own out of date knowledge/assumption which was the modem was not supported yet.     Please engage Meraki support on this issue, stress your use-case.    https://meraki.cisco.com/support/ ... View more

@nsweeting2,   The USB730L is not officially supported by Meraki at this time... https://documentation.meraki.com/MX-Z/Cellular/3G_-_4G_Cellular_Failover   You could try putting the modem into Enterprise Mode as described in the Linux Integration Guide found here.  Inseego Support will not assist with any further support for this process or outcomes, I am just providing the resources available.   ... @Cowboyflr,   You best path to requesting integration of a new USB modem is to contact support and make the request with them, as well you could use the "make a wish" link on the dashboard to submit your request. You could also work with your sales rep, if your project is of considerable size you may sway someone.   Honestly, getting a modem integrated with Meraki is a long process and takes a considerable amount of effort.  I would suggest you explore the currently integrated options which are listed here... https://documentation.meraki.com/MX-Z/Cellular/3G_-_4G_Cellular_Failover or use a Cellular modem with a copper Ethernet hand-off. ... I am hearing of a lot of folks with MX65 appliances who's USB port is not working with a SkyusDS today, anyone else experiencing this issue with any make USB modem?  Have you logged a support case with Meraki?   Their is an open bug report for the MX65, please reference this when calling in to support with this issue.   https://meraki.cisco.com/support ... @Darmel, I have placed a Make a wish request with Meraki for connection metering of WAN1, WAN2 and USB... I would suggest you as well, the more noise we make the more likely we'll see something implemented.  Give a call if you have any trouble 877-698-6481 with your SkyusDS.     @ShawnP, Crossroads requires an agent to report back the server, the SkyusDS does not support this function.  The SkyusDS2 (as of this writing not fully integrated with the MX line)  will have Crossroads reporting function builtin, the SA2100 has Crossroads reporting function builtin.  ... @Adam,   You can use USB as your primary (only) WAN, but you will need to disconnect all ethernet WAN links.     If you have a MX which will not use only the USB as primary WAN connect the MX to the internet temporary using ethernet WAN and ensure the MX checks in, then attach the USB ensure it goes ready, then  pull power from the MX, pull ethernet WAN and power up the MX with only USB WAN.      ... @Jetpilot45 & @smartin,   1) Select Organization > Firmware Upgrades. 2) Tick the device device type you would like to upgrade/downgrade 3) Click Schedule upgrades. 4) Select the Target Firmware Version you would like to apply. 5) Click Next, the next screen will allow you to schedule the upgrade, and then confirm.     If you are not presented with the newer versions try stepping up to the highest you have available.  After you confirm you device is running the last scheduled version, repeat the above process to see if you then have the newest version available to apply.  If you still don't see the latest beta available, contact Meraki support for assistance.   ... @Jetpilot45,   Using both scenarios you listed, the Meraki MX should start using the connection if the USB modem is setup properly. Test the connection with Windows. Ensure the proper APN is set for your Mobile Device Number feature set,  if it's a dynamic NAT'd IP then your APN should be vzwinternet, if you are not sure contact your verizon sales rep or call into customer service.     If you are using the USB730L with a different carrier you will deffently need to login to the modem UI and set the proper APN.     You could try current beta firmware 14.17 to ensure the modem is integrated, 13.25 was before the USB730L was considered supported by Meraki.   When pursuing support of a MiFi device first contact your carrier, if you are still stuck you can contact the MiFi support group.   VZW - Customer Service (800) 922-0204 or dial *611 from your mobile phone Mon - Fri, 7 AM - 11 PM local time Sat - Sun, 8 AM - 9 PM local time   Inseego MiFi Support:  888-997-5211   To force the MX to use USB as the primary, ensure no other Ethernet is connected at WAN1 or WAN2.   Still stuck? contact Meraki Support!   Good luck, and Check back with the community to let us know how it went!   Jeremy ... Bill,   If you suspect the SkyusDS is causing your trouble connect the modem directly to a PC withe the drivers installed and test your VPN connection.   The line of service in use with the SkyusDS, does it have a static unrestricted IP, or a Dynamic (non-routable)?   Feel free to call into Inseego Technical Support if you are having trouble with your SkyusDS We are available Monday through Friday 8AM until 5PM at 877-698-6481 or via technicalsupportus@inseego.com ... You could place an attenuator inline between the antenna and SMA connector on the MX65W.  Keep in mind the connector on the MX is RP-SMA.  But it probably won't be the best for receiving probes from the client devices you are looking to receive from.   Removing the antennas you won't receive the probes you are after.   Try turning off all SSIDs and use the radios only for reception for analytics ?? ... @TUCTech, We still make and sell the SkyusDS.   The Mifi USB730L is rumored to work in MX appliances but is not fully intregrated into the Z1 so therefore does not appear on the supported USB modems list.    We are starting to role out our newest modem the SkyusDS2 but we are still awaiting full integration of connection management on the Security Appliances.   Link to the supported USB modems... https://documentation.meraki.com/MX-Z/Cellular/3G_-_4G_Cellular_Failover ... Yep, unfortunately you get what you pay for.   The eBay special will work until it doesn't, most consumer devices succumb to heat and don't fair so well with a continues duty-cycle(the connection with the carrier is always maintained even while on standby in the "ready" state).  The Skyus holds up very well in a continuous harsh environment.     With the Skyus you also get a 1 year warranty which can be extended a total of three years.   We do offer device demos, give a call into sales and request one!  I would suggest purchasing direct Insidesalesus@inseego.com 877-685-9040 and see if you can negotiate volume discounts, fortunately/unfortunately I am in support so I don't speak dollars and cents.   We are excited to contribute to this community.  We hope to provide our knowledge of the Skyus and Mifi modems, as well as cellular and USB dongle in general to folks.  I don't like to mix sales with support so I will attempt to keep that noise to a minimum!  ... Due to the power requirements it is not advised to use USB extension cables with the SkyusDS or any USB modem for that matter.  If you are in need of placing the antenna in a more convenient RF location you should use a calculated run of coax which accounts for loss. ... View more
