Hi thanks for getting back so quickly.  Yep, looked through this document already, just wondered if anyone has actually implemented this in a production environment.  Conscious that Cloud Track is still in Beta... ... View more

Client Tracking in Full Stack Environment

I am in the process of designing a site using the full Meraki stack.   All Layer 3 routing will be done on the "5th floor" stack, All other switches and switch stacks (other floors) will come from this Core stack, with a Single transient VLAN passing all external destined traffic to the MX .   This is a combined network, and I am looking at the best method for Tracking Clients ? According to the Meraki documentation, I can’t track by IP as this isn’t supported in a combined network. Tracking by client MAC address isn’t an option for us, because the switches are doing the layer 3 and the downstream clients are not on the same broadcast domain as the MX.   Our only option seems to be the Cloud tracking, which is still in beta.  Does anyone have any advice as to how the Cloud tracking works and good/bad experiences with it, and will it provide the client tracking information? ... Has anyone had any issues with 14.39 firmware ?   I've got an MX 84 with an uplink to a Cisco SG500-52P.  All routing is done on the SG500-52P with several VLANS configured on that.  The MX has a route back to each VLAN.   Existing firmware was way behind, 13.36, but had no issues.  After the upgrade there were continued issues with connectivity from the MX to the downstream switch holding each of the VLANs. Checked the event log on the Meraki and see the following : Source IP and/or VLAN mismatch Route connection change peer_type: gateway, peer: 192.168.200.254, connection_status: disconnected   Rolled the firmware back and all good again.  The SG500-52 has the latest firmware on it.  Puzzling ! Nothing else has been changed on this network apart from the MX firmware.     ... View more

Thanks for getting back so quickly.   Yep, F/W attaches to VLAN 1.  I'll double check NAT for VLAN 2 and 3 and will get back, but I'm sure this is in place. ... View more

MS425-16 Routing Issues Firmware 9.32

by StormTrooper in Switching

I've got a MS425-16 as a Core, connected via a trunk port to a stack of three MS225-FP's.  All are running v9.32 VLAN 1, VLAN,2 VLAN3 are setup on the Core.  No VLAN's on the stack. From VLAN 1 I can successfully ping 8.8.8.8 from the tools menu. I try the same with VLAN 2 and 3 but can't ping 8.8.8.8. However, if I leave a ping running from VLAN 1 to 8.8.8.8 and then try again from VLAN 2 and 3 I get a response ! If I run MTR against an address in VLAN 1 it confirms routing is taking place on the Core. If I do the same on VLAN 2 and 3 it reports that it's jumping to the firewall !  Why ?  All VLANS exist on the Core so surely the routing should be taking place here. The default route is to the non-Meraki firewall.  I've confirmed all necessary routes exist on the firewall. I've read others having issues with v9.32.  Is this a symptom ?  This is driving me mad as I can't see anything wrong in my setup.   ... View more

Thanks, I had seen these but wondered if this applies if the switches are physically stacked.  The reason I ask is because in the following Meraki documentation : https://documentation.meraki.com/MS/Stacking/Switch_Stacks#Configuring_a_Physical_Switch_Stack   .it states the following under Physical Switch Stack Configuration Steps:   Connect one uplink for the entire switch stack.  ... Cabling Guide - High Availability

Hi all, I'm looking for a cabling guide or advice to assist me with a setup that I've inherited. Currently I have: 2 x MS425 (Core) configured as a physical stack (Warm Spare) 5 x MS225-FP configured as a stack using physical stacking cables.   From the MS425 stack there is one uplink to the non-Meraki firewall. From the stack of 5 switches there is one uplink to one of the MS425's. Should there not be further redundancy here ?   - 1 uplink from each core to the firewall - 1 uplink from each switch in the stack of 5 to both core switches. As it stands, should the single switches fail that have the single uplinks then it's game over until the cable is physically plugged into an alternate switch right ? I've looked at the Meraki documentation for a cabling/HA guide but can't find anything that covers this. Thanks in advance.  ... View more

After researching further I don't think this is  possible to achieve. All 3rd party VPN providers require a Userid/Password as part of the authentication process, which is not possible via the Meraki VPN option for outgoing connections. ... View more

Nope, no other VPN's configured at present.  I've tagged the traffic to the specific VLAN and I know I can specify whether to use VPN for that VLAN, which will restict as I want.   I've setup previosuly using Merkai peers, which I know is straightforward enough and works like a dream, but never to a provider such as those mentioned.   ... Hi,   I have a scenario where I need a specific VLAN to route traffic via a VPN provider (Express VPN for example)   Has anyone had a similar scenario and had success with it ?  I'm thinking I need to setup S-2-S VPN (Non-Meraki Peer) and tie down to the required VLAN ?         ... View more

I've deployed these, but would suggest that you get a professional wireless site survey performed.  This will help you identify the optimum placement of the AP;s and save you problems further down the line.   ... View more

I would also suggest getting a professional wireless site survey performed.  It's not just the interference from your own devices that needs to be considered, but also that coming from neighbouring AP's in nearby building/office floors.     I have found in the past that the Meraki auto ordering of channels does not always work as well as it should, and manually setting them can prove more successful.     As always proper planning prior to deployment can aleviate problems further down the line. ...
