Thanks much for the attached document. So best practice is to have Native VLAN 1 setup on MS<> MX uplink ports so MX simply forwards all BPDUs it receives without participating in STP process. Think, apart from Meraki any router simply drops/blocks any BPDUs ? Is this forwarding of BPDUs on LAN ports only in Meraki?

I read the article and thought that it is mentioned when MX is running in "Passthrough or VPN Concentrator" mode where MX acts like layer 2 Bridge and thus forward Bridge Protocol data Units coming from connected switches.

Wanted to confirm whether BPDUs for Spanning Tree Protocol pass through Meraki MX250 in a "Routed" mode ? As in Routed mode MX acts like a layer 3 device and does not really participate in any layer 2 control process of traffic transfer. Infact BPDU frames are dropped and do not traverse MX appliance in "Routed Mode." Its only in "Passthrough or VPN Concentrator" mode when MX acts as a layer 2 Bridge that MX will forward BPDUs as received within the broadcast domain that they were received on.

Sure, think it will tell WAN port utilization , that would be good enough but wont tell how much internet bandwidth is being made available by ISP.

Actually, not Meraki but, have used a product where the router provides in a graph, sensed (or available) bandwidth up/down and then the actual bandwidth consumed up/down. So, was curious to know, would there be a way to get such stats while using Meraki MX.

So, would SolarWinds be able to able to sniff and tell how much bandwidth is being made available by ISP even though clients connected to MX would be using less . e.g. 500 Mbps uplink/downlink is made available by ISP while actual usage is of 100 Mbps uplink/downlink. Concern is to understand that provided ISP bandwidth is not dropping from 500 Mbps symmetrical to say 200Mbps symmetrical.

Hello, Wanted to understand if there is a way to check internet speed i.e. download/upload speeds available on a WAN connection without running any speed test. If there is a way to check on internet bandwidth being provided without running speed test. Concern is to know whether available bandwidth (up/down) fluctuates or not and speed test is not an option as it would affect live video streams running off the same internet. Thanks

Switch settings show MTU size set of 9578 (Jumbo frames) by default. As per the instructions you shared in the link, I cannot ping any public DNS over MTU 1472. Think Public internet does not support Jumbo frames so MX would be limited by max 1500 but withing MS switches in our network, Jumbo frames should pass through? I think.

Below alert showed up on Meraki dashboard >Alerts>Device Health. What would this refer to? and could it lead to the link /connection going down ? "Oversized or undersized packets detected." "Detecting a very high proportion of oversized or undersized packets on SWXX"

I have always setup with a Mx or a Z1 device but a layer3 MS switch is capable of running on its own in Meraki network. I could create a network in Meraki based on ONLY a switch. But, can I use it as a flat switch ? I guess not. And as @alemabrahao mentions, where can I setup the uplink info as I can normally do on an mx/z1 device.

As it is possible to create a network using just a switch without a security appliance, is it possible to feed that switch dirty internet and use it.

For an enterprise license, you can get info on : Air Marshall events, Flows, URLs, Wireless event log, Switch event log, Appliance event log.Flows would give you more info on source, destination, MAC and protocol.

I think device utilization in Summary Report is not the same as CPU utilization and as @ww already mentioned, only Support can see CPU utilization and it is not visible on Meraki Dashboard to users. Is there any API call which can provide such info?

Actually, even after disabling load balancing and Active-Active Auto VPN , still MX-250s continue to show latency spikes on both ISPs at the same time for unknown reasons. No particular event is captured at the mentioned time which might point to this latency spike.

It does actually, there are 10Gbps CWDM SFPs by Cisco. Its just Meraki has no mention of CWDM. https://www.cisco.com/c/en/us/products/collateral/interfaces-modules/transceiver-modules/datasheet-c78-734047.html
