hi everyone, i need some help with my meraki / nexus 9372 network. On the merakis that are directly connected to the Nexus switch I see the message of "High rate of STP topology changes on port XX". I believe they are configured correctly, but i have attached a very low level jpeg of the network. I saw on another post that it was recommended that we set the Nexus switch with the command "spanning-tree mode mst"... does anyone have experience doing this command in this environment?

hello everyone, I am trying to prevent users from having their iphones / androids on the corporate wifi by using the Different Policy by SSID feature... however it does not seem to be working. I had a test device blocked from joining a certain SSID and had the user test it.. but it joined right away no problems. Is there something else I need to configure or is there a better way to accomplish this?

the devices drop from the network.. we are no longer able to access them on the network. no pings as well. it is intermittent loss. the merakis have been plugged in since 6pm yesterday. no ip address conflict not sure about the spanning tree setting or how to configure that spanning tree root guard i know that my other switches have stp enabled for rstp i dont have any logs of my current switches i just got off the line with Meraki support, they believe it could be an STP issue.

I havent disconnected them, but the devices drop off... then come back. All types of devices are being affected now... not just the older equipment. laptops desktops IP phones wireless access points wireless lan controller some of each of these devices have dropped completely... then came back online a few minutes after..NONE of these devices are directly connected to the Meraki

it HAS caused issues... i can see machines and devices dropping off the network as we speak. is there ANYWAY to prevent this? These switches dont need to know about anything other than what is currently plugged into them.

I agree I can see the benefit of it... however, some of the equipment on our network is so old and sensitive that it completely drops off the network if it gets any kind of activity.... its crazy i know. If I were to try and prevent this in the future, would I just change the VLANS that are allowed on both the Meraki and my Core Switches?

hello everyone, i have just hooked up new meraki switches to my network and it seems that they have an auto discover feature in them. what i mean is... i have hooked these up to just use on the default vlan 1 network and they had began discovering clients on ALL my other vlans and networks. Is there anyway possible to prevent these merakis from touching other networks or VLANs?

I understand. I do know it is a good one as I had it plugged in and daisy chained to a small switch in my office. It worked fine. The only issue has been connecting to the nexus 9k… very odd.

ok my coworker just let me know, although i dont know the actual model number, it was a brand new cisco fiber transceiver. currently the switch IS ONLINE, however its just daisy chained through ethernet to the switch it was meant to replace... i figured as long as we we could get it online somehow that someone smarter than me could tell why its not working haha

Ill find out about the transceiver and get back with you, unfortunately I was not onsite when they attempted to plug it in. I do know, that there was no link on the N9K or the meraki. however, when they plugged it back into the 2960 it lit up immediately.

hello everyone, i am very new to meraki. i am replacing a cisco 2960 with a meraki ms250, however when we went to make the change over it failed. The main idf is a cisco nexus 9000, below is the config for it: interface Ethernet1/33 description SFMD-SM-296024-01 switchport mode trunk channel-group 204 mode active When i plugged the single fiber into Port 52 on the Meraki, it DOES NOT come online. I initially thought it was the channel-group 204 mode active command that was causing the issue, but removing it did not help. does anyone have an advice on where i should go to next to resolve this? everything else in my environment works fine... VLANS/PHONES/Access Points.

ok thank you, the port is set as a trunk. its online allowing all the vlans. however, there is only 1 uplink being used on the MS250. The NEXUS was setup for portchannel, but never used. Thats what Im trying to determine, if there will be any potential issues!

hi everyone, we have started to roll out meraki ms250 switches at work. They are very different from 2960s and are an interesting challenge. My Nexus 9k switches have a Virtual portchannel on the uplinks and the existing 2960s have that as well... Will I need to disable that on the 9k interface or is there a way I can add a VPC onto the ms250s? I havent found anything in the documentation regarding it... so any help or advice/guidance would be greatly appreciated! thanks!
