Serious question. I'm probably one of the largest Meraki fanboys here. But one thing that drives me crazy is the MX limitations on internet bandwidth. With larger pipes being available for much cheaper these days it is hard to swallow having to buy an MX84 or MX100 to get > 200M. What's your guys thoughts on this? Has anyone ever reviewed any products like this? https://www.ubnt.com/edgemax/edgerouter-x/ I'm just trying to think of solutions for smaller sites 10-15 users where fast bandwidth is available.

I rebooted the cameras and it has helped. No more choppiness or export issues. But is this a temporary workaround or a fix? I now worry that I'm going to have to babysit these cameras and periodically check on them to see if they need a reboot?

Mine are at 3.4 as well. It is somewhat subtle @MRCUR. Watch some live footage and see if you have any choppiness where people walking through the scene either disappear or appear to skip frames. I'd also recommend trying some exports to make sure they work on your MV12's. Also may be worth comparing what settings you've enabled on your MV12's. I have: When should this camera record footage: Always Enable motion-based retention: Yes When camera delete footage: When it runs out of storage space Video Resolution: 720p Video Quality: Enhanced Record Audio: Yes

Are the VLANs configured on the router or the switch? A good practice is to configure these at the core switch layer. The MX should only really be routing internet and VPN traffic. That way you can do a default route on the switch to the MX and then create specific layer 3 routes or ACLs as needed.

Correction, the severity of this may be escalated. One of my other MV12's has had the issue on a different day so this could be a larger issue.

Hello Community, I've had a strange issue with one of my MV12's that I wanted to report here so some of you could check your environments. One of our MV12's is choppy when watching live. People will disappear because of the lag in the live view. When I go to the playback/recording to see if it was just an issue with viewing live it has the same problem. When I try to export the video to see if I can get the full scene it only exports the title slide. So far this only appears to be impacting one of my MV12's. The others appear fine. But you may want to spot check some of yours because this would be one of those subtle things that could cause a big headache when you need footage. My assumption is that the camera has failing storage but we'll see what support comes up with.

Yes the MX will have to handle the routes. The switch interfaces can then be setup with the Vlans. Setup the interface between the switch and MX as a trunk with whatever allowed vlans you need.

You can put all your devices on a management vlan but that management vlan will need internet access so the devices can checkin to the dashboard and be managed. There isn't much of a local managed option, so the serial/local old school way of implementing won't really work.

Have you tried an actual client? That test often doesn't work for me, there is a nuance to it that I forget but my clients auth just fine.

It is definitely not logged. I've worked with support on this and it drives me crazy that it doesn't get logged somewhere. Makes troubleshooting a lot more difficult. Equally silly is that you can't whitelist an IP to avoid it from being blocked by the Layer 7 country firewall. So if you have a website that you need to get to that is in a country you have blocked. You have to unblock that whole country. Note: I know country blocking is not an iron clad security practice. Layered defense my friends.

Agreed on the hard limit. We found it out as well when we weren't getting full speeds on our Spectrum connection. Computer plugged in direct was fine. Then recalled the limit of the MX64 in our case.

Outbound PAT? And most of the MX NAT rules are focused on inbound. Outbound traffic will just show as the MX WAN IP.

You'll need a DNS server that you can manage. Then you'd have to add a new domain to your forward lookup zones. ie http://customurl.com to 192.168.1.1 Then on the MX as @MRCUR specified you can change the DNS server in the DHCP settings to point to the DNS server that you can manage above.

Can't be done on the MX. You'd have to have a DNS server you control. Is the IP you are trying to direct the domain to an internal IP or public? If public you could just specify it as the domain hosting company.
