@Jacko You need to manually reset it the first time. After that it should be instant, unless there is a delay in sending the command from Meraki side. You could try cancelling the command resending it. Sometimes this works for me.

@Jacko Yes, after you assign the core DEP Profile settings (On the DEP) it will need to be reset. Any changes to the core DEP profile settings, the device will always need to be factory reset for them to be applied. --- The settings found under 'System Manager -> Settings', if these are changed the devices does not need to be reset as they will be pushed down to the device.

@Jacko This was an exercise for us too with one client. We found resellers have different timescales after the scale they are willing to enrol for us. But I do believe with Apple Configurator you can 'Prepare' multiple devices at once with a quality hub, but I have not tested this myself. You will have to go the AC route, but do take note this will create a new Apple DEP server that you will need to move devices from. Most likely you already have a DEP Server linked to Meraki. A couple of key features you might like: - Lost Mode (DEP only) - Since iOS 11.2 you can push App updates silently, even if the app is open. Prior to this the App will show a prompt and then go offline on the Client List. (Meraki have confirmed this is by design.) But do let us know how you get on. Thank you, Peter James

@Jacko 1. "retrospectively add all the other 140 devices" - No. The reseller can do this for you. Each Apple reseller signs up to provide this service. It may take them 72 but would save you a leg of work. The downside to the AC enrolment process is the devices can be removed from the DEP manually on the device for 30 days. 3. The boiler plate I suggested was really just to get you started, start simple and then add on the complexities. If you need to use Apple ID's there is nothing stopping you. Apple VPP removes the need for Apple ID's, which should be used on Apps that do not require Apple ID's. But there is an option when adding the App in system manager for 'VPP user assignment'. It might be you would need a mix of both. 3. b) I would back up any data. But again if you need the end user to install Apps that require Apple ID's see above. Let me us know how you get on. Thank you, Peter James

@Jacko 1. If you purchased the devices via a reseller you can skip this process entirely. Just contact them to add the devices to your Organisational ID. Located on deploy.apple.com (Top right drop down on one of the pages). This will mean when you factory reset them they will automatically go across e.g. no Apple Configurator process required. Just remember in the 'DEP' section (System Manager -> DEP) to set the core DEP profile settings. 2. Not used this myself - See Point 3. 3. Using Apple VPP removes the need for Apple ID's on the devices. When adding your VPP app use 'Device Assignment' and set the authentication to (General -> 'Disabled: do not require user authentication at enrolment'). 4. If you go to Systems manager -> Settings, do you have any 'Restrictions' set in your profile? Specifically 'iOS and macOS restrictions' -> 'iCloud iOS'. In most of our clients setup we have disabled 95% of all options, including removing Safari (to counter the latest 'Spectre' bug). Point 1 will be your greatest benefit at this point. Point 3 would be the easiest starting boiler plate, from here I would then add your specific requirements. Any questions just ask. Thank you, Peter James

@BlakeRichardson We had the same issue. We get around this by enabling 'Location Services'. The Apple MDM Protocol that Meraki implement, does not have this feature yet. Thank you, Peter James

I am currently mapping an Android MDM Solution for our customers, but I too can not find a way to replace this logo which is insane! I feel the partnership between Cisco-Apple may be playing a part here...

Please tend to choose one flavour or the other and rarely both. I think it would help this sub community if the 'Mobility Management' was split down further in to iOS or Android. Thank you, peter James

@jffortier If it cant determine its location, it will not update. Did you wait until the pending was complete in the log? And did you refresh the entire web browser page? Unfortunately, this does require a bit of babysitting and a couple of attempts in some cases. Thank you, Peter James

@WadeAlsup Has it. Meraki 'Time-Based Tags' documentation Link This would require you to set up two profiles, once with restrictions and one with a difference. And then applying the restricted one during the times specified. I would definitely read this document 'Scoping Profiles and Apps'. The only thing that needs to exist in the second profile is that one particular difference. Thank you, Peter James

@Stephen86 Admittedly when I am unsure of a devices location, I slip it in to lost mode that enables 'Location Service' on that device overriding any settings set for it. Then hit 'request location'. It can flick in/out without the customers even noticing. See the official Meraki document here: [Link]. (We have found devices arrive in Iraq, Lebanon and in some cases customers have left them at the training sites.) Alternatively you could use the 'System Manager' App and enable location services for it. See Meraki documentation here [Link] Thank you, Peter James

I have a device installed with iOS 11.0.3, but on the client page in the MMD Commands for the 'OS Update' it now shows a option to upgrade to 10.3.3. Just curious if this is just me. Thank you, Peter James

@Stephen86 Buying the App multiple times (depending on the cost) may seem expensive at the start, but with the Apple DEP/VPP programme you save money in the long run by avoiding unnecessary support costs. And if you only use the device for one App, then I do encourage you to consider SingleApp / Kiosk / App Lock mode. This is different from Guided Access and leaves the device completely in your hands. Thank you, Peter James

@CarolineS - Great! Thank you for this! This is far more detailed than expected and gives thought to how we can improve our own processes, so thank you for that! There is one section I would like to query "Manual Enrollment - Add device(s) to Device Enrollment Program (DEP) > Section 9 : After the 30 day provisional period, the iOS device(s) are now fully in your Device Enrollment Program (or Apple School Manager) account! At this point devices can be moved out of the default “Devices Added by Apple Configurator 2” MDM server and moved into your Meraki MDM server on DEP so the device(s) sync into your existing Systems Manager > DEP page." You can move a device out of this DEP account within the first 30 days, everything else mentioned still applies. Thank you, Peter James

Hi All, Would be the best way to set up 15 linked sites so that a user can sign up for the splash page and then not have to worry about moving between sites until that authorisation expires? I think I might need to look at VLAN with 'Layer 3 Roaming'. Any advice? Thank you, Peter James

This issue I had was because someone had enrolled my test devices previously to a DEP Account. After sorting this out, my new devices added without issue under an Administrator access account. Thank you, Peter James

I have no idea why this failed or produces an error on three iPod's but then worked on my work iPhone without issue. No Apple Configurator settings were changed. But this does rule-in that 'Administrators' can add devices via this method. Thank you, Peter James

I have pulled some devices logs off and found: <Notice>: Received response 403 for request to https://deviceenrollment.apple.com/v2/enroll This is definitely pointing me down the direction this is a permission issue for 'Administrator' accounts. I am now contacting our DEP Agent account holder.

@robby_barnes - Did these devices show up in your Apple DEP Account? And did you use your main Apple DEP account or an Administrator account of the DEP account? @CarolineS - I appreciate this. Can you please let me know when this guide is updated / created. According to the new Apple DEP T&C's and Apple directly, only the customer can be an owner of the Apple DEP account and service providers should only access it under an Administrator account. I am currently wondering if Apple have made the requirement that only Apple DEP owners (and not Administrators) can add devices and these credentials must be used with Apple Configurator. Thank you, Peter James

Just to expand on the below: - I have added the Meraki Server (from the AC2+ URL - See Guide above) - I have also added our server Working with a factory reset iPod: - Prepare Devices (Options ticked: Add to DEP, Active and complete enrolment, Allow devices to pair) - Select Meraki Server above - Select new Organisation (Log on with our Apple DEP / Administrator account): No issue. - Create an Organisation: Generate a new supervision identity - Setup Assistant: Don't show any of these steps - Choose Network Profile - Profile: None - Automated Enrolment Credentials: Unsure what these refer to. Description "Provide the user name and password to use when enrolling in the MDM server, if needed". Assumed these to be our Apple DEP / Administrator account again. (With our without the above optional user/pass entered I get the same error) Device prepared: - Waiting for the device --- START OF ERROR --- Error: Provisional Enrollment failed. Network communication error. [MCCloudConfigErrorDomain - 0x80EF (33007)]. --- END OF ERROR --- Our Apple DEP account now has a new server, with the name 'Apple Configurator Devices'. What am I maybe doing wrong in the above? I can set up the device and install the Meraki profile without issue, but this is not DEP enrolled. Thank you, Peter James

Sorry I forgot to add, there is already a Apple Configurator 2.0 Guide: https://documentation.meraki.com/SM/Device_Enrollment/Enrolling_and_Supervising_iOS_Devices_using_Apple_Configurator_2.0_or_Later I just feel one relevant to iOS11 updates would really help the community. Thank you, Peter James
