My company is working from home. I did a recent network upgrade so I went in a couple of nights when there was no one at work to finish the upgrade. I did some cable management stuff. Enabled AD authentication for VPN. Everything is working. I’m learning Python and Blender 3D at spare time. www.blender.org

I’m using Meraki cloud authentication for VPN. I have a single account for VPN users. Because of the virus everyone is working from home and some complained about disconnecting from VPN. I called Meraki and they said only 5 users can login with the same VPN account. I created some temp accounts and this seem to have solved the issue. If I use Active Directory authentication for VPN so that each user logs in with their Windows account, that should also solve the problem right?

Upgrade switches to PoE to power our IP phones from switch, and convert from 1 Gb switches to 10 Gb. Replace servers and NAS, and some new PTZ cameras, and learning Python, upgrade MX68, use AD authentication for VPN.

@PhilipDAth Thanks for the reply. You said, If you want to restrict what can be plugged in you would need to adopt a "deny all" policy where nothing is allowed access until you grant that access. Then random plugged in devices wont work. Is this something I can do on the Meraki? The only Meraki device I have is the router, but all my switches are Netgear and UniFi. Also note that a /28 subnet for a LAN would be unusual. This is a more typical WAN subnet prefix. I choose /28 in my home network because I wanted to restrict the number of devices that will be on my network, but yes I agree that /28 is unusual in a home network.

I believe I already know the answers, but just to confirm: At my home router, I have the sub net mask as 255.255.255.240 /28. This means, I can have 14 hosts on my network. What would happen if a 15th host try to connect to my network. It simply wouldn't connect? If another logs off, it can connect? What would happen if someone connects a router to my work network and setup their own network? Is there anyway to block it without going through each office and checking occasionally? I

I just renewed my license to 3 more years. What would happen if I didn't renew the license after the current one expires? I believe there's a 30 day grace period, but what happens after the grace period and I still don't renew the license? Would the LAN stop working since the config is saved on the Meraki Cloud? Just wondering. Happy Holidays!!!!!!

@BrechtSchamp Insight is not managing the network, we bought the Mearki from them, they're a Cisco / Meraki vendor. So I need to get a license key from them.

Sorry if I asked this before. My current MX68 license is set to expire on January 25, 2020. My Meraki vendor is a company called insight.com. I purchased a 3 year license from them yesterda, but I didn't get a license key. I have a order number. Do I need to do anything on the Meraki dashboard to renew the license or would it automatically renew for 3 more years on January 25? They (insight.com) said I don't need to do anything else, but I just called Mearki support and they said I need a license key, and I need to select "add another license", and apply the new license. This is my first time renewing a license on Meraki.

@Nash Do you have other users of your client VPN? Do they need access to other devices? I have other users (company users who need access), I setup a different vpn account for this "outside" user, this user I only want to be able one specific IP. You can have one set of rules that applies to your client VPN. You can't make decisions, via the firewall, regarding access provided to individual users. Unfortunately. I guess its not possible then because if I make change in client VPN, it will affect the company users + "outside" user

I have a Python script that creates a website using data from a website. The website is an aviation website, so I want to create my own tile server. Does anybody here have any experience building your own tile server? I can get the images from FAA as GeoTIFF. I'm still working on my website, but I'll post a link when I'm done.
