WiFi router or Access Point for use in tunnels / mining environment

Does Meraki make any AP to be used in tunnels?  So far, the only solution is a company called Eion wireless. What I'm trying to do is this.  When people go into tunnels, I want to get a live feed of what they're doing.  I can put a switch for this, but I'm trying to reduce cabling to make it more user friendly since the people that go into the tunnels move around a lot, and any cables will be in their way, and could easily get damaged.   If I can get an AP to work in the tunnels (not all tunnels are a straight line, some have bends, the depth is 60ft from top to bottom of the tunnel entrance), it will more easier to use.  The users will carry smart phones which will connect t to the AP to provide live video and audio.   I found this AP that might work since this is designed for use in tunnels.  Does Meraki make anything like this or any suggestions?  I'm looking for a rugged AP since the work environment is dusty, dark, cold etc.   http://eion.ibeam-solutions.com/product/tunnel    This is what I'm thinking so far       ... @KarstenI  I agree I need Meraki switches, I have a MX84 does that count?  😀   Just to make sure I understand, if I enable DHCP snooping, I don't HAVE to enable DAI.   But for DAI to work efficiently, the DHCP snooping database need to populate.   Is that right?  I'm new to switch security. ... Sorry if this is the wrong place to ask, but my switches are Netgear switches.   I would like to enable DHCP snooping and Dynamic ARP Inpection (DAI) on my switches.  If I understand correctly, DAI works with the DHSP snooping database to compare the MAC address.  My question is, if I enable DHCP snooping, do I have to enable DAI also to work properly?     Can I just enable DHCP snooping?  The reason is because I tried DHCP snooping + DAI on one of the switches to test, and as soon as I enabled DAI, I lost the uplink. ... @Ryan_Miles   The only time I only had single VLANs was may be years ago when It was out of the box. May be I didn't notice VLAN 0 before, but I only noticed it after adding VLAN 10.  I had VLANs 2-4 a long time ago and I don't recall ever seeing a VLAN 0 ... View more

Meraki MX68 VLAN bug?

I'm not sure if anyone had this issue before with MX68.  I added a new VLAN 10 on the MX68, but when I went into the clients VLAN list, I don't see 10.     Please see picture for more clarification.  This shows my VLAN list.     The two bottom pictures, the left bottom, is what it showed me after I added VLAN 10 the first time.  I was not getting DHCP for VLAN 10, so I went to the client list VLAN and I see 0 but not 10.     The right bottom picture, shows VLAN 10 now and I'm getting DHCP for VLAN 10.  I changed the VLAN number from 10 to 6, then changed it back to 10.   Is this a bug?  I'm using Google Chrome, not sure if it matters.     ... https://www.arin.net/reference/research/statistics/address_filters/   May be this is the reason: In August 2012, ARIN began allocating “172” address space to internet service, wireless, and content providers. There have been reports from the community that many network operators are denying access to devices having IP addresses from within the entire 172 /8 range. As a result, any device with a 172.x.x.x IP address may have difficulty reaching some sites on the global Internet. The only way to solve this problem is for those operators to reconfigure their routers or firewall access controls and filter only address space from the 172.16.0.0/12 range. ... View more

@Inderdeep  Thanks, that's what I thought also.  Yes, it should be fine. The reason for my weird question is because, the previous IT guy told my co-worker something about not using 172.17.X.X on the company network.  We don't have any weird firewall rules to block this IP range. ... View more

My company acquired another company, and I was going to assign the new company 172.17.X.X/24 as the subnet.  Is there anything wrong with using 172.17.X.X because apparently this subnet cannot be routed?     172.17.X.X is a valid private IP range.   172.16.0.0  to  172.31.255.255 ... View more

I only had issue with this user.  These are the things I tried, I'm not sure which one fixed it.  He was able to login to the VPN from iPhone or iPad, but not from a Windows device.  So I assumed it was a Windows problem. Manually created the user profile in RADIUS server Logged in as the user while signed in as Administrator (ran notepad as the user) on the RADIUS serve I'm not sure if any of these was the solution, but when I did these steps above, he was able to login from his Windows ... We recently acquired a new company, and I created an account in Active Directory for one of the employees from that company that needed VPN access.  The issue was that, I was able to VPN as the user from iPhone or Mac, but not from Windows.  I'm using RADIUS authentication for VPN.   I fixed the issue by logging in as the user into a Windows computer, and other things.   My question is why was I able to VPN from MAC iOS but not from Windows until I made the changes?  Anyone experienced this before?   Also, I'm using the Windows 10 VPN, and I know Meraki have the AnyConnect, how's that?  Anyone using it? ... I got an alert from my MX about lost connection to Meraki Cloud around 1:55 PM - 2:00 PM Eastern time.  Only for about 5 minutes.  The weird thing is that, I was on the internet that time, but I didn't notice anything, nor did the other users.   I tried to login to the dashboard, but it took a while to load, but the other websites were fine.  Anyone had this issue today?   I just saw this post, so it looks like a Meraki outage issue.   https://community.meraki.com/t5/Dashboard-Administration/Dashboard-Issues/m-p/111942/highlight/false#M4115 ... I'm not sure if you NEED a managed switch, all my switches in my network are managed.  I'm attaching a diagram if it helps.  This is my configuration.   Let's say I have VLAN 5 on the MX and VLAN 10 on the voip router   Both of these are connected to a Netgear switch.  I'm using VLAN 5 (U) and VLAN 10 (T)   The I simply connect the phone to the switch, and my phone is configured for VLAN 10.  Connect the cable from the switch to the phone port labeled LAN to get VLAN 10 (from the voip router), then connect the cable from the phone labeled PC to PC to get the VLAN from MX (in my case VLAN 5)   What kind of voip router do you have, and what kind of voip phones?   ... This is what I ended up doing.  Assuming you have a void router like I do, I created a VLAN (10) on the voip router.  I didn't do anything on the MX.    Then I created VLAN 10 on the Netgear switches along with VLANs on the Netgear switches for MX.  Then assigned VLAN 10 on the actual phones, so the phones receive VLAN 10 for voip, then the other port on the phone which goes to the computers receive their VLANs from MX.   If you setup is different from mine, hope this helps.  You can also contact MX support.   https://documentation.meraki.com/General_Administration/Tools_and_Troubleshooting/VoIP_on_Cisco_Meraki%3A_F.A.Q._and_Troubleshooting_Tips   Hope this helps. ...
