Several APs stopped working on 5ghz after configuration change (radio settings).

MR44 or MR36. 2.4ghz works OK but no client can join the AP on 5ghz.

I can see the SSID beacon on the capture logs.

It is happening ramdomly. After rebooting, APs work again on 5ghz.

You mean they stop working after any configuration change or you made a specific change and this has been happening since? Have you tried undoing the change? What was the change?

If you aren't on the latest firmware, I definitely suggest that. I don't see any known issues or fixes even going back a bit, but Meraki doesn't always list every bug.

If that doesn't help, you could try a factory reset to see if it resolves the issue. Something may be gummed up on the config on the device.

Alternatively or if that fails, give support a ring when one of them isn't working. They can hopefully identify the issue and open a bug if necessary.

Any Radio configuration change as power transmit, channel, minimum bit rate and so on.

Only on 5ghz.

Always latest firmware since day 1.

We are not doing now any changes to see if that triggered the issue or if it is just happens from time to time.

At the moment 5 AP (of 70) were affected.

Thank you.

Hi @Network_ICT,

That's an interesting issue, I haven't seen it myself to be honest, however, I have a few suggestions on how to approach the troubleshooting.

1. In the wireless packet captures, make sure that you're checking the correct BSSID in the beacon frames, just to double-check that you're seeing beacons from the correct AP.

2. Create a test SSID that will be broadcasted on 5 Ghz only. You can enable it on the AP when it is affected and see if your clients can connect to it. This will allow you to see if the issue is limited to specific SSIDs, or it's AP-wide. Also, if you don't see it from the clients, it may mean that the AP is not beaconing for this SSID, which is a problem.
3. In the wireless packet captures, try to identify on what step the connection is failing over the air.

4. Call Meraki Support when the issue is happening. They should be able to verify if the SSID is beaconing, and also collect some backend wireless connection logs to see the step where the issue is failing. If you have a way to reproduce the issue on-demand, this will also help with troubleshooting!
