NAT Mode with Meraki DHCP - Can you tag traffic to use different VLANs using this method?

Hi,

Can anyone please advise? when using NAT mode with Meraki DHCP can traffic still be tagged to use different VLANs. When testing we have noticed when the client IP assignment is set to Meraki DHCP traffic defaults to the native VLAN. We would prefer it to default to other VLANs instead of the the native VLAN when using this method is this possible?

Thank you

Assuming you're talking about Meraki NAT mode on the SSID, no you can't separate the clients onto a different VLAN.

This is because the clients are NAT'd to the IP address of the AP and therefore use the VLAN for that IP Address.

If you want to tag clients into a specific VLAN, you need to use bridge mode on the SSID.

No you can't.  Using NAT mode on Meraki AP's make the AP's work like firewalls.  They will translate your source IP to their management IP for packets going to clients in the wired network.
This setup is only valid if you have a very very small environment with no VLAN support.

The moment you do have VLAN's on your switches you should use bridging instead and let the network handle your DHCP.
