Meraki MR36 - End of Life July, 21 2026?

Dear All,

My end-user (customer) has the entire office based on a wireless architecture with Meraki MR16 devices. Today, he became aware of the scheduled End of Life for the equipment MR36 on July 21, 2026. The customer knows that after this date, they will no longer be able to open tickets or receive updates and security patches. However he wants to know for sure if the MR36 Access Point will stop functioning after the End of Support date.

Appreciate your help.

Thanks in advace.

I'm unsure what model you are referring to as MR16s have been EOL since 2021: https://documentation.meraki.com/@api/deki/files/17019/meraki_eol_mr16.pdf?revision=1
and MR36s are not EOL. There are a number of APs that do EOL on the date mentioned. Mostly 802.11ac Wave 2 models.

Regardless they should continue to work, but after that date there are no guarantees: https://meraki.cisco.com/meraki-support/policies/#product-end-of-life-eol-policy check that out.

Dear All,

The equipment I'm referring to is the MR36. The customer based itself on the following community link posted years ago:

Thanks all.

MR36 is Wi-Fi 6 AP is there have no been even end-of-sale announcement yet for this SKU.

Edit: there is nothing in the linked thread about end of life/support for MR36.

Please refer to the official documentation for end-of-sale / end-of-support dates - https://documentation.meraki.com/Platform_Management/Product_Information/End-of-Life_Notices/Meraki_...

Yes, I'm confused about the model as well.

There is one big upcoming change that will cause really old APs to be truly disconnected from Meraki Cloud for the first time.

We have to do this because TLS 1.0/1.1 protocols used by these APs to talk to Meraki dashboard have been long obsolete. Firmware mitigation is available for some APs that are capable of running MR 26.X or newer firmware.

That really scared me for a moment 😥

Interesting , was the deprecation of TLS 1.0 announced anywhere ? looks like I have missed it

Yes, we have sent a targeted communication to customers that actually have these APs in their networks. A public documentation is also available.
