CW9178 Staging

This is from the the CW9178/9176 Installation Guide:

Warning: If the Networks in the Organization where the CW9178I is to be installed have Meraki Sensors, it is required to create a separate network for the CW9178I for staging purposes. Once the CW9178I connects to the cloud and updates the new firmware, then the AP can be moved to the network where the CW9178I needs to operate.

Has anyone an idea or an info what the reason for this is?

I know that the CW916x APs have sensors, but they only work in DNA mode, I would be certain that the CW917x APs also have them, perhaps there are moves to make them accessible to the Meraki dashboard...? 😎

I think this refers to the MT sensors not being able to communicate through the CW917X APs until they have upgraded their firmware.

That's a pretty safe bet.

That was my first assumption. But it doesn't really make sense. If there are other Gateways in the network, the MTs are fine. And if there is no other gateway, it doesn't change anything from the MT perspective. And typically the gateway is added before the MT.

That warning is nebulous. I had zero issue installing them directly into a prod network that contains  MT40 and MT15 sensors during the Beta
