Best way to Move Meraki Device from one Org to another operating Org

Hi,

We got the business requirement to manage our Meraki Devices which are on Multiple Meraki Organization to point out to single Meraki Organization. I was going through this link https://documentation.meraki.com/General_Administration/Inventory_and_Devices/Moving_Devices_between...” but it does not clear say what are the impact will face while doing moving the Meraki Devices like APs/Switches/Sensor to other Organization. We are not changing Physical Network of the Meraki Device. We are doing this work just to manage Meraki Deices via single Meraki Organization. Can some one will explain me is there any downtime require to do this activity and IS there any Meraki Device config will get change while moving from its existing Organization to other Working Organization? How about license complication here. In both Organization we are using Co-Term license.

Don´t know which devices you want/need to move.

Quote:

  • Only organization administrators have the necessary permissions to move a device between organizations.
  • The process of removing and adding a device may cause brief downtime (typically 5-10 minutes) while the device moves between organizations.
  • The static IP addressing set on the devices will remain unchanged.
  • The dashboard configuration that is applied to the device will not migrate to the new organization.
  • Licenses cannot be transferred between different customers.

Didn´t do this for a while, but I think only the support can move your licences.

You will encounter a downtime as the device has to pull and apply a new configuration from the new Meraki-network. Also if the destination network is configured identically, it is a new config.

And the last time I moved devices, the licenses were not transferred. (Edit: But I did not try to go through support with that)

Thanks for your help!!

Which license you were using in your Organization. I can see in some Meraki Article Co-Term license can be move between organization by Meraki Support Team.

It was always co-term licensing. Do you have an example where it is documented that licenses can be transferred?

Licenses can be moved between Orgs.  The customer will need to contact Support to do so and authorise the transfer.

We’ve had two incidents of this in the last week.
