We have well over 200 AP's spread around our school district and get complaints of slow internet, so typically suggest device rebooting and we reboot the AP. Is this what others do as well? How often should an AP be rebooted? Any option to bulk reboot AP's?
I only reboot if there is an issue with a specific device. Rebooting all devices often for no real reason will cause headaches as the access points will need to work out what channels they are all going to use again which means your wireless network will take time to settle each time you do this.
I agree, the fault could simply be upstream of the AP or could be an interference issue with neighbouring wifi. I would suggest if you haven't visit the location of the problem and have a look at one of the affected devices. Take another laptop with you and see if they freshly connected device has the same issue.
