cable test - pair 3 and pair 4 showing short

Hi fellow users of meraki , 

 

 

we  have  a  below connection on port 12 and it is having too many tx discards. Tried  cycle port and  still seeing below output  on cable  test . what could be the reason ?

Bad cabling.

For a short, probably poorly terminated at the patch ports but could also just be a bad patch cable.

Start replacing cables or cable testing the runs to confirm

Is something still connected?  It could be a faulty cable or device, or if the port connects at 100Mb or less then you can ignore it as only two pairs are used for data.

As mentioned above - dodgy cabling. First try replacing the patching fly leads.

Definately doggy cables and or not fully pushed in.

 

BTW that length (where fault) is not to be trusted in my experience.

@amabt the length is the cable length, not the distance to the fault (if they are not the same).  I've found it to be good +-10% over the years.
