best practice switch ports access

Hello,

In Cisco IOS. there is a setting called

int Gi/0/0

switchport host

In JUNOS. you set the port as EDGE.

This basically removes all extra settings not needed for a port that has a single vlan and a basic client PC.

Specifically it  set spanning-tree portfast.

setting portfast removes any RSTP participation and eliminates uplink MAC-FLUSHING which impacts your network .

I am seeking what others do as a best practice if familiar IOS as well JUNOS ( ,making a Port basic) settings

Hi @JED2021

Meraki MS best practice guide below:

I would set the switchport as Access and then set the relevant stp according to what device is connected

I'm not an employee of Cisco/Meraki. My posts are based on Meraki best practice and what has worked for me in the field.

Marking the port as an "access" port in Meraki has a similar result.
