Suddenly Meraki AP stops giving internet access

Please recently my firm just upgraded from unifi to meraki

But we have had strange experience when suddenly though the wireless is connected we won't be able to access internet but using LAN at same time works fine.

This issue we don't know exactly what is causing it but what we do is to restart the core switch which is Cisco 9500 fiber switch. I really need help or any idea on What I could check the meraki event log does not sure any thing but the core switch will just show some flapping interface but this affect all the meraki AP in the firm.

Hi @Onyema007 ,

Firstly, are devices authenticating with the desired SSID?

If devices are authenticating do they get an IP address and DNS server?

Can you ping the DNS server?

Where does a traceroute from the device take you?

Thank you so much for the quick reply. Yes the device is authenticating with the desired ssid.

What I have not had the chance to check due to we want service as earliest as possible is to check if at the point this happens if I am still able to get IP or ping the DNS. Next time it happens I will definitely check for this things before trying any restart.

Is it possible this could be caused by a loop ?

Note only the AP is affected connection with cable is fine at the time

If it was a loop I’d expect to see STP errors on your core

What does Wireless Heath say?

When you click on the client - does the connectivity bar show any errors?

I would start with basic troubleshooting as suggested. Can devices ping each other locally?

In regard to the problem look for a pattern, is it happening randomly or similar time each day or when a specific device is connected.
