Port Profile

This morning when working on deploying a new site I got an error message when I went to setup my port profiles

Unable to create port profile
Name already exists for this organization

In the past, I've always been able to use the same profile name as long as its in different networks so just curious if anyone else is running into this today.  I can add it if I change the name to something I have not used before.

Port Profiles are now a part of SmartPorts.

SmartPorts - Automations is currently available in Early Access. To use this feature, please enable SmartPorts from the Organization > Configure > Early Access page on your Meraki dashboard. To use APIs for Early Access features, also enable Early API Access via the same Early Access page.

What to expect when enabling SmartPorts:

When you opt into SmartPorts, you will notice the following changes related to how you access the feature:

  • The menu option for Switching > Configure > Port Profiles will change to Switching > ConfigureSmartPorts for Network administrators.

  • The menu option for Switching > Configure > Port Profiles will move to Organization > Configure > SmartPorts for Organization administrators.

Thanks for the clarification.  Looks like I'll be modifying my deployment guide until I have a chance to evaluate SmartPorts

But the message says it's not possible to create a new port profile because you're using an existing name. However, you can link an existing port profile to another network without any problems.

Are you trying to use an existing port profile?

I am not a Cisco Meraki employee. My suggestions are based on documentation of Meraki best practices and day-to-day experience.
