MS410 - Stack and Layer 3 interfaces Routing

we have 2 MS410-16 registered on the dashboard with IP management in VLAN 1.

We have configured a physical switch stack.

When we want define differente Layer 3 Interfaces for the inter-vlan routing,

Do I can configure it on the stack or I need to configure the L3 interface on the 2 switches of the stack ?

and ...

the ip address of the Layer 3 interface of the Vlan 1 must be different from the IP management of the 2 switches in the stack?

Hi @MarcoBene 

 

So if I understand this correctly - you have a stack of 2 MS410-16's?  If they're a stack then consider them as a single management plane.

 

When you define your new L3 interfaces for your user devices, servers etc then these will be configured on the MS410 stack.

Layer 3 Features

  • IP addressing and subnetting schema
    • Dedicate /24 or /23 subnets for end-user access
    • Avoid overlapping subnets as this may lead to inconsistent routing and forwarding
  • L3 Interfaces

    • Assign a dedicated management VLAN

    • Avoid configuring a L3 interface for the management vlan. Use L3 interfaces only for data VLANs. This helps in separating management traffic from user data

Be aware of these limitations regarding the management IP address and any Layer 3 interfaces you configure on the stack.
