Hi. I have a client who does not know who supplied his mx65 some years back. Is there any way to fond the original vendor from the serial number?

If the device is still active in the Meraki Dashboard, you might find details about the original order and vendor. Otherwise you can try contact the Meraki support.

If you have access to CCW-R the serial may show that data in there. MX65s are from the time period where not all Meraki ordering info was as synced with Cisco’s commerce tools so YMMV

Another option might be reaching out to distribution partners, if you have a relationship with them. Companies like Ingram or TDSynnex.

Going sideways; wy do you need to contact the original vendor?
RMAs can be handled via a support case.
You can order new kit of licences from any Cisco supplier (unless it is a Subscription, but they are very new).

The current device is old. We need to know the current configuration in order to replace the device.

But all configuration is done on the Meraki dashboard. There is no point in having to consult the vendor.
Unless you bought the MX second-hand and it is linked to another organization. Is that the case for you?

We don't have access to the device.

It is still not clear why you need to access the settings. For RMA, you just need to inform the serial number to support and the settings will all be saved in the Meraki cloud.
Can you contextualize your case a little better, please?

My client has purchased the company that originally installed the network equipment. We have no record of who the supplier or the installer was, and therefore no access to the devices on the network.
The current meraki unit is old, and we want to have a substitute unit ready when and if it fails.
Are you suggesting that we establish a support case with meraki support just to learn the settings on the device?

I must say that in this case it will be complicated, the support will not provide this information nor will it give access to the dashboard where the equipment is linked.
The only way to achieve this is to contact the person who performed the configuration so that they can provide access. But as you said, your client does not know who it was.
So this is a big problem.
