Vlan interfaces on MX and Core?
Hello All,
Currently we are using a single MS425 core switch to handle all our vlan interfaces and routing. We've recently installed an MX105 and have set it up as shown in the diagram. I was wondering if it is possible for the MX to handle some vlan interfaces and keep some on the core as well?
Thanks
Mark

As already mentioned, yes, it is possible and also quite common. Having all VLANs on the MX is the best from a security standpoint. But if you already have an MS425, I assume the MX105 won't be able to handle the load. In this case, I would move all VLANs with sensitive systems onto the MX and keep all others on the switch. Then, you can monitor the load and decide to move even more systems to the MX.

Hi @Mark-SPS, dependant on your needs I’d move all the L3 interfaces up to the MX. That way I can control inter-vlan routing and segment my network accordingly.
