Trunk port question

Sorry if I'm in the wrong forum.

I have the ports on the Meraki in trunk mode.  Does the switch port need to be on trunk mode also?  Can I make the switch ports access?

There are a many correct answers.

In general, I would use trunk ports between an MX and a switch.

However if you only have one VLAN, then making them both access ports is also valid.  There are a multitude are topologies with different answers.

I'm not sure what kind of Meraki device you are referrinf to when you say "I have the ports on the Meraki in trunk mode".

Typically connections between switches and between switches and MX will use trunk mode.

As Philip mentioned

Switch > Switch or Switch > MX use trunk

Switch > client device use access  (i.e. computer, Phone, CCTV, WAP)

Sorry for not being clear.

I was asking about connecting Meraki router to a switch. The ports on the Meraki router is on trunk mode. Does the switches have to be ok trunk mode also?
