We just implemented NAT-HA with a pair of MX84s connected to a Pair of MS-220-48LPs. now the primary MX reboots “randomly”. The problem seems to be related to STP however we are not seeing any ports switch from forwarding. We have tried a few connection typologies with the same result.
The most stable connection is when both MXs are patched into only one switch (2 patch cables used total) but we still see a reboot once or twice a day. It will continuously reboot if we connect both to both (4 cables) or if we add a connection from the primary to the spare (3 or 5 cables)
All ports are set to Trunk/all
only the 2 switches and 2 MXs in the network (the network is much larger but for testing we disconnected the rest of the network)
Does anyone have a connection topology to provide a redundant connection?
Not very sure about your requirement. However kindly find the sample topology diagram for reference. Hope this can be of some help.
this is very close to what we are trying to do. I am assuming you have this in production without any reboot issue?
Ask support to confirm your MX's are running the version of firmware they say they are using.
Sometimes you get a situation where a device does not manage to complete an upgrade properly. They then get stuck in this cycle of rebooting and attempting to upgrade again and again.
The Dashboard only reports the software version the MX is scheduled to run - not what it is actually running.
This is in production environment and we do not see any reboots. You may also consider looking into the firmware issue as suggested by Philip.
