Dymo label printer 550

  • We have a Dymo label printer 550. It looks like the Dymo Connect software insists on the computer be able to communicate to their cloud service.
  • When I take the MacBook and Dymo label printer to my home office, everything works fine. But when on the Meraki network it doesn’t work.
  • it seems to be something to do with a port which needs to be open so the Dymo can communicate with the server.

Kind of a big deal

What i've googled indicates that your macbook needs to talk to the printer not to the internet. Are the printer and macbook on separate vlans? Are you able to setup the printer by IP? It may be that by default it does airplay printing and needs bonjour forwarding setup.

Several possibilities here and Dymo support may be able to provide clarification on what exactly is needed so that we or support could provide clarify on what configs are needed.

The issue here is that the printer is always connected to the Mac via a usb cable.

but at the same time, the Dymo Connect software needs to link to their cloud service for it to work.

if I take the Mac and Dymo home (normal home broadband and wifi) all works perfectly.
at work- the Dymo stays offline in the app and I can’t print.  This is on my office Meraki network, but we don’t know how to overcome the block.

Could be firewall settings.

Do you have layer3 firewall rules on the mx?

Are you using meraki wifi?

yes we have some forwarding rules set for the CCTV but I haven't set any for the Dymo yet...

Do you know what we should use, based on the screenshot above?
