Combine Ubiquity Firewall with Meraki APs

Hello

We have an existing site (35 users) with the following devices:

1.  Dream Machine Pro Firewall \ Router connected to a Ziply Fiber) - a single VLAN.

2.  Three Meraki MR46 APs

3.  Two Meraki MS120 Switches

Currently, the network is up and running (The APs are connected to the switches, and both switches are connected to the Dream Machine Pro).

I can see many devices connected to the WiFi and all looks good.

My questions are, please:

1.  Is it ok to continue running the above configuration?

2.  Will I have any roaming issues between APs?

3.  Do you recommend purchasing a Meraki MX75

4.  Any recommendation would be appreciated.

Thank you

Need? No! Still good and future-proof choice? Yes!

But the MX67 is likely the financially better choice.

Some answers to your questions:

1. There's no specific issues with your setup

2. No, you shouldn't have any specific roaming issues

3. MX75 is a bit overkill for 35 users. An MX 64 or 67 is probably plenty fine if you want to go Meraki full stack

As @Brash mentioned, your setup is perfectly fine. Replacing the actual firewall with an MX will easy your management and monitoring as all will be done from a single dashboard.

Other than Brash suggests, I would go with the MX75 if the budget allows it. This device is the newest one in the line and is likely supported longer than the MX67. If you are on budget, the MX67 will be perfectly fine, I operate plenty of them even with more users. But I would not buy the MX64 any longer as this device is already quite old.

So besides the ease of management, I'll leave it be if there are no major implications.

Maybe in the future, I`ll buy the MX75

Thank you, KarstenI

@KarstenI, quick question.

I made a mistake with the number of users in this branch.

We currently have 13 (planning to grow to 20 at the max).

Do you still think I need the MX75? or should I be getting another model?

@Roey1984 to use Meraki equipment you don't have to buy into their full solution, you can pick and choose which hardware you would like to use with the exception of sensor which require either Meraki access points or CCTV cameras.

My company started with MS, then moved into MX followed by MV and just this year MR however our core firewall is a Fortigate as there were features we needed that the MX couldn't provide.

@BlakeRichardson Thank you for that, my friend.

I understand it`s ok to run the configuration I have now.

The ease of management all in one Dashboard appeals me.

I`ll check the prices for the MX, we`ll probably purchase one

thank you!
