It’s official - gx-50 does not support IP6 devices

Notice that web blocking only works on ip4 devices and web blocking does not work on ip6 devices.

opened a ticket and the came back with “the gx-50 is not an ip6 gateway”

I was stunned by this since the gx 50 issues ip6 addresses.

all human devices on my network are currently requesting and receiving ip 6 address from the gx50.

so in stepping back to reexamine…it must be due to ip6 being encrypted.  So..now I have to check to see if security license content scanning works on ip 6 devices.

Wow, it didn’t block pornagraphic content on ip6 devices.

so now I wonder if malware and other basic security license stuff works with ip6.

Meraki should add a feature to the gx-50 to turn off issuing ip6 addresses.

Well, I guess the only option is to reserve ip4 addresses for human devices.  Not sure if that will work , but it’s my next move.

Strange that the gx-50, which support says is not an ip6 gateway, has an option to enable ip6

i just turned that off to see if the network will be pure ip4, and if that will allow all human devices to be managed for web blocking and content filtering.
