Disable "Approximate Location" in Systems Manager > Devices > "Device name"

Hello everyone,

I wanted to ask if there is a way to disable the map view of the approximate device location.
Since we have a seperate profile for BYOD I wanted to fully deactive the function to track even the approximate location. I even tested around with revoking the GPS permissions within the phone, but it still points out the vague location through the WiFi connection with Meraki APs.

I would appreciate any form of help regarding this topic.

You can disable location altogether using the "Privacy and lock" payload: https://documentation.meraki.com/SM/Profiles_and_Settings/Configuration_Settings_Payloads#Privacy_an...

Disabling/removing the map would be a feature request. If you want to go thermo-nuclear, you could use uBlock Origin or another ad-block to just hide the DIV the map shows in. It's ###ReactPccClientLocation

Here to help

You can’t fully disable the approximate location shown in the map view when devices are connected to Meraki APs, as it’s based on network-based location tracking rather than GPS. Even if GPS permissions are revoked, the system can still estimate location using Wi-Fi triangulation. The only way to prevent this is to stop the device from connecting to networks that provide this data or to disable location analytics on the Meraki side, but this affects all connected devices, not just BYOD.
